I'll be down in a bit. Didn't realise it was so near!

A great day out. Good to meet folk variously. I've got 200 pics to sift through - lots of lovely, fast cars.

Oh, and some Autoshite.

QUAD LAMPS MEEN SPEED.

NOT NISSAN. Qualifies as Autoshite, as it has broken down here.

Proper pics to follow. Was a bit of a disappointing day with the new camera. Unsurprisingly, it's not great for action shots.

This Rapier was a firm favourite.

If Autoshite took part in a bike cavalcade...

All-in-all, a disappointing outing for my new camera. Still quite a lot to learn about it. It really struggled with contrast at times, and a lot of those pics have needed a lot of tweaking.

Made it back OK after an enjoyable drive - at least until I hit rain at the Welsh border. It really is a little under-tyred when the roads are wet, so great care had to be taken.

I took a grand total of two photos today; one in Catsinthewelder's work car park, which looked like a mini AS meet:

And one of a 2CV parked in the main Bromyard car park field. This was slightly tricky to get out of (at least with a RWD car) as the ground was very soft. If it had rained it would have been a nightmare!

That belongs to the 2CVGB editor Tony, who came and had a chat with me and Chaseracer when we were lowering the tone of the Morgan display.

Morgans you say ... you don't see those everyday...

The Granadaland Greenhouse Gassers also made it home to the Granadaland without any untoward incidents.

To the contrary, the Haunted Rover behaved impeccably all weekend, so it sure will fail its MoT tomorrow.

I find Dollywobbler's pictures extremely good, especially when considering, that they were taken with equipment he isn't yet familiar with.

The whole spirit of the event was nicely relaxed and it really brought the whole town on its feet. It was a lot better, than I had anticipated

and altogether pleasingly shite. This was deffo not the last time for me and I hope it will attract more participants in the future.

This was one of my favourites:

12891633_10154096798008200_5241386186639

It doesn't show well in the pictures, but it was nicely battered and oozed out of every pore that it was driven, and with that, I mean driven hard.

Exactly how it is supposed to be.

Another one of my favourites was a Morgan Three Wheeler that had been hopped up for racing and looked delightfully lethal.

Unfortunately most of my photos and videos of the day were put through the digital shredder by my camera, and I can't be arsed uploading videos tonight, but I'll regale you with what I've salvaged anyway.

This was the breakfast meetup of the eastern contingent of attendees, with Chaseracer and FPB7 joining me in their respective Gallic waftwagons for keep-healthy sized breakfasts in the luxurious surroundings of Hagley Beefeater. The BX's seats now feel Germanic and unyielding in comparison with its older, more pure-blooded stablemate, and the 205 has made me aware of the need for an XUD in something miniature on the fleet.

The event was likeably naff, packed with genuine classics that those of an Autoshite persuasion could still enjoy, and pleasingly free of fanfare and classic car snobbery. Many of the non-Autoshite attendees seemed surprised that anything was happening around them at all.

Three wheelers much in attendance:

From Bromyard it was on to the apologetically named OK Diner in Leominster for food, and mat_the_cat most graciously turned the car park into an impromtu workshop in order to diagnose a few of the BX's ongoing faults, with the help of the undersized jack from the CX.

Then it was time to head home via some of the more scenic bits of Shropshire, first in convoy with the impressive Hyundai Stellar 1.6* and the 205, then behind a giffer-piloted Peugeot 308 with Junkman and Conrad D. Conelrad in the mighty brown P6. If modern cars still offered interiors that Tangoesque, I might be more interested in running them.

Using my local knowledge, I parked in the co-op car park, next to the action. Only managed an hour and a half as we had a 2 year old with us. Bonus was I met Mr DW☺

If there were anything wrong with that motherless BX of yours, then mat_the_cat must be a true magician, judging by how you were able to almost leave me in the dust.

Well, up to about 60 OMGMPH that is...

For quite some time after the OK Diner, I was held up by a BMW 325i driven by someone either plastered beyond what is healthy for a driving licence, or overly anxious (the twat slammed the brakes for anything approaching from the opposite direction) with no opportunity to pass it. I could only watch you and Chaseracer disappear beyond the horizon.

Only after that teutonic piece of newfangled toshness had left the main road, I was able to unleash the eight cylindered mightiness of much Englishness Eugen Böhringer style, fed by two carburetters of much SUness contributing a healthy chunk of fossile resources out of my petrol tank towards improving the climateness, going by the velocity my fuel gauge needle of much Smithsness moved, just to find you caught up behind that horsebox of much bloodyness.

That was epic!

Good to meet you briefly. Sorry we didn't linger but I was keen to grab a good spot before the action restarted.

I didn't get home until about half-nine, and that was with the assistance of Britannia Rescue

After an excellent run through the boondocks between Catsinthewelder's gaff and Bridgnorth with a Leon FR, the throttle jammed open while I was (oh, delicious irony!) overtaking a laden RAC truck on the A442.  There aren't many places to stop safely on that stretch, so I had to find a wide-ish bit of verge to do a Clarkson before turning the motor off.  Impressive amount of smoke from the brakes...

The pedal was on the floor with a loose cable so I assumed it had snapped, but mech-bloke spotted that the throttle had locked over and jammed.  Freed up with a bit of adjustment, and all is well  :)

That's the one I mentioned earlier. It was carefully modified to kill one on the spot, should the slightest incident happen.

Actually, I had the impression it's already trying to hurt me just standing next to it. It has become my favourite suicide method now.

I'd thought we'd got off remarkably lightly holding such a gathering without a single recovery service being involved, obviously the Gods of Shite weren't smiling down quite as much as first expected.

Glad to hear your FNTP wasn't too dramatic.

Info on the 2017 event has been posted: http://www.bromyardspeedfestival.co.uk/

All who attended this year's event may confirm that against all expectations it was bloody brilliant.

It also has one of the most important Shiter traits - it's absolutely free!

Just turn up and watch an eclectic parade of old racing chod fill the town with noise and pollution.

So next year an even bigger AS turnout is expected.

Bump, or should we start a new thread?

Can't make it annoyingly. Was ace last year, but it clashes with the NEC Resto Show. Was going to enter the 2CV!

If its reasonable weather I'm up for it this year. Only an hour away for me.

"Norton Dominator".  Me likee!  Makes Jensen Interceptor sound wimpy.

Martin Amis has one of his characters, possibly John Self in "Money", driving a car called a "Mark 2 Violator".
