Does this look like an XUD clutch to you?

I think the clutch is knackered in my 406. Do these fit all/some/most XUD's, I'd rather pay £5 for one as I don't want to spend any money on it, never mind changing the frigging clutch.

What's that solid plate? Looks strange.

It's PSA so there's going to be several different types.  I bought the cheaper option for the Xantia when we did it which should have been correct, it was only when we got the old clutch out that we found out it was wrong and the considerably more expensive one was required.  Of your photographs, the top one looks nothing like either we had, the bottom one looks similar to one of them.

I believe you get pull clutches and push clutches on XUDs. I imagine the one in the top picture is the pull type. Unfortunately I have no idea how to work out which you have.

The friction plate might be right but the plate thing doesn't look like a clutch to me.

Notice it has holes to presumably bolt to the crank. Looks like it might be the torque plate thing that autos have instead of a flywheel.

Top one is for a VW with 020 box.The pressure plate bolts to the crankshaft and the flywheel over the top with the centre plate in between. The clutch is released by a rod through the middle of the input shaft pressing on the flat plate in the picture which is held into the pressure plate with the spring.

I do believe it is pull clutch fitted to n/a diesel and push clutch to turbot diesel.

So there you have it - you've got a fifty/fifty chance. :)

A pull clutch is used so that the clutch can take more torque for a given size than a push clutch . I haven't changed a pull clutch in ages as it seems they have fallen from favour . Thank fuck ! Depending on manufacturer they can be a right ball bag to do .
