The Moog Posted December 13, 2020 Author Posted December 13, 2020 Ohhh collectedDoing ok before couldn't get 1st and 2nd. Not a problem, third will do. Get to roundabout and Zero gears as is floppy as anything. Breakdown recovery booked Jim Bell, Craig the Princess, Shite Ron and 4 others 7
The Moog Posted December 13, 2020 Author Posted December 13, 2020 Success Gearstick had popped off. That's ok because now clutch pedal is on floor and does nothing. Shite Ron, Coprolalia and Cavcraft 3

strangeangel Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 Just logged in hoping to see you'd got home without any bother... argh. Honestly got no idea what the overheating is about, that's a new thing - it never once did that in the 4 1/2 years I had it. The Moog 1

Honestly got no idea what the overheating is about, that's a new thing - it never once did that in the 4 1/2 years I had it. I had just been sitting with engine running and not moving so might just be fan relay or similar. All fun and games. Autoaid said my policy had expired (said it was only for a month) even though took money out yesterday for my yearly policy - so have had to stick the recovery on my credit.card and will phone them tomorrow to sort it out.
NorthernMonkey Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 Guess who I’ve found at the side of the road.... Now performing waiting room duties until the truck arrives. spartacus, Cavcraft, Broadsword and 3 others 6

artdjones Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 I don't see what would make it that time consuming. Obviously there's a couple of extra things to deal with compared to a 405. The regual 3 minutes ago, The Moog said: That's better news as this said 8 hrs There's a few extra things to do on a BX over say a 305, the hp pump bolts to the top of the gearbox doesn't it? Also, the regulator and flow diverter need to be unbolted. But as far as I remember they can be pushed back out of the way without breaking into the hydraulic circuits. I'd say the Autodata figure is doable with a lift and gearbox jack. The Moog 1
Broadsword Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 Turning out to be a pretty eventful day so far! The Moog 1
dollywobbler Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 Oh bother. Not ideal. Cooling fan or sensor could be duff. It takes a lot to get an XUD hot just idling in winter, but I guess it'll get hot in the end. Hope the old AS Bike starts behaving. The Moog and strangeangel 2
Austin-Rover Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 That roundabout is about a quarter of a mile from my house. I think some Autoshite flares are needed, or some sort of Autoshite Bat-Signal that can be sent up to attract the attention of local shitters! 😄 mitsisigma01, Broadsword and The Moog 2 1
mitsisigma01 Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 There'd be Autoshite flares all around my house then 5¹/² shitmobiles in need of fixerating down here ☹️ The Moog 1

Bradley bar? The Moog 1
The Moog Posted December 13, 2020 Author Posted December 13, 2020 Yep I think NM said it was Bradley Barr roundabout. All back safe and sound. I have randomly sort of abandoned the BX in front of my house - mainly cause we have got new neighbours moving in so had their rental truck taking up space. Missus Moog has tutted a lot. Apparently it is a rusty old heap - promises have been made to reduce the fleet to 1 estate sooner rather than later. Nice to meet Mr S Angel, that Ami is a delight. Plan of action is to get BX a bit more out of the way. Then book some time with Monkey Motors to have a look what is up. Hoping it isn't the clutch fork as that's the only bit not purchased. Also need to phone Autoaid to get cost of today refunded Jim Bell, Broadsword, Tickman and 2 others 5
hairnet Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 at least it was a tut not a slap or is that later and are you sleeping in it The Moog 1

The clutch fork was replaced with the first clutch; the one that came off was absolutely shot. Interestingly, the garage said the fork was NLA, and I had to source one from Der Fransoze. The Moog 1
The Moog Posted December 14, 2020 Author Posted December 14, 2020 Slight postscript Spoke to Autoaid this morning and confirmed that I have a policy in place. They are going to refund the money spent. spartacus, Steviemillar, Jim Bell and 7 others 10
The Moog Posted December 15, 2020 Author Posted December 15, 2020 The bits have arrived gm, Craig the Princess, LightBulbFun and 8 others 11
The Moog Posted December 20, 2020 Author Posted December 20, 2020 Question for those who know Bxs - what would cause the clutch to go to floor and stay there? I can't get into the car at the moment to have a root around, as is blocked in. The reason I ask is that I want to order any bits I might need to fix the clutch and get it back up and running. So far got clutch cable, clutch kit, driveshaft seals and crank oil seal. Jim Bell 1
ruffgeezer Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 If it has fucked the bearing through the pressure plate or just broken its fingers perhaps? The Moog 1
The Moog Posted December 20, 2020 Author Posted December 20, 2020 That would make sense. I didn't know if these had the issue with the clip on the clutch
