Dave_Q Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 You should be able to measure it easily enough, even with a ruler. Bolts (metric ones) are sold as Mx * 1.0 * 40mm where x is the diameter in mm, 1.0 is the thread pitch and 40mm is the length. If you grab a ruler and measure the diameter of the threaded part, you'll probably need to round it up to the nearest mm as the thread cutting process removes some material. The thread pitch is a bit harder to do with a ruler but I'd guess it's 1.0mm from 1 thread to the next, hopefully you can measure this with a ruler. Finally the length, which doesn't include the head. At a guess that will be either M6 or M8 * 1.0 * about 40mm. The Moog 1
The Moog Posted June 19, 2016 Author Posted June 19, 2016 Did i leave the new pads in the car?Yep. That is what prompted me to get a set of discs and change them both. Thanks Dave will have a look.
The Moog Posted June 19, 2016 Author Posted June 19, 2016 Interweb says m12 with 1.25 pitch and 32mm long. Apparently has to be dealer as everywhere else is either 30mm or 35mm. Will see tomorrow how much they want for one. Then potentially this will be going to a new home. Which in turn means the Alfa will be doing knockhill. Might need to sort the bush at the front!
The Moog Posted June 21, 2016 Author Posted June 21, 2016 New shiny things acquired All back together and brakes are sharper than All going well the little swift will be off to a new home soon. Picked up a top wishbone for the Alfa for the princely sum of £35 so endeavour to change it before knock hill. I also need to get a spare set of tyres for it. purplebargeken, Dave_Q, Pillock and 1 other 4
The Moog Posted July 1, 2016 Author Posted July 1, 2016 Taking both the starlet and 156 to knock hill on sunday, so dodging the rain showers I fettled them some what.Alfa air filter change was a bit of a pain but worth it Skizzer, Coprolalia, Lacquer Peel and 1 other 4
Supernaut Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Those alloys give it an extra billion horsepower. It'll fucking WIN at the trackday now!
Dave_Q Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 That air filter looks easy peasy, the one on my wife's 147 is accessed from underneath! Changing gearbag oil with one axle stand, I'd put the stand under the side you're going to be under, and the jack under the other side to raise/lower for optimum emptyage. Dave_Q Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 That's the plan.I think I read that as you were asking for tips on how to do it, when you probably weren't. If your Granny needs any help sucking eggs, send her my way. Twiggy 1

If your Granny needs any help sucking eggs, send her my way.Always after advice! I am hoping that I can get it levelish ... especially as I am doing it on gravel
sporty-shite Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Apparently cambelt looks fairly newish so not going to worry about that. Did i give you any bills with it? There was one, albeit hand written, from an independent garage, claiming a fairly* recent belt change. If you haven't got them, I'll have a look in my stuff.

Will have a look Today was gearbox oil change on starlet on gravel pathway with one jack, one axle stand and inbetween showers( am available for you bet!) Clever parking meant I could use the paving slabs to jack the car up. Drain plug Gloop gloopAs dark as the devil's soulWhat was going inMy new favourite toy meant refilling was piece of piss Verdict - better than it was but still clunky. Definitely needed changing Oh and halfords please fuck off with the 12 sided sockets. They are shit. I might need to buy some 6 sided ones to replace them all.
The Moog Posted September 17, 2016 Author Posted September 17, 2016 Waving goodbye to this today Left Accrington at the ungodly hour of 5 30 for a trip to the big smoke (no not Burnley). twosmoke300 Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 I hate to dissapoint you but starlet gear oil was changed about 6 months before you bought it . It's all in your head 😀 purplebargeken and The Moog 2
The Moog Posted September 20, 2016 Author Posted September 20, 2016 It's all in your head 😀Story of my life!
rainagain Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Oh and halfords please fuck off with the 12 sided sockets. They are shit. I might need to buy some 6 sided ones to replace them all. 12 sided sockets in general, just why, they are normally attached to something that can rotate so why have 12 sides? It only makes it marginally easier to get them over a nut.
twosmoke300 Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 12 siders are handy when access is tight when using a breaker bar but you can just index it on the square instead .
The Moog Posted September 22, 2016 Author Posted September 22, 2016 Checked all the tyres over today on the Space invader. Couple don't have date codes, the others are a decade old. I think they are in need of changing. Booked for 4 avons to be fitted for princely sum of £170. Aside from that I finally opened the bonnet today Looks shiny, checked fluids and closed it. Ordered new brake parts from amazo as new discs and pads on the front. Callipers were £8 each so rude not to. Batu gives it the thumbs up as well Tickman, Cavcraft and Bucketeer 3
Supernaut Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 £8 each for calipers?! Bloody hell. I should check amazon for car parts. The Moog 1
The Moog Posted September 22, 2016 Author Posted September 22, 2016 So far got 2 xwheel cylinders2 x calipersSet of padsSet of shoes2x brembo brake discs (I hope they fit) 2 x brake drums For less than £50 Probably needed after having a squizz whilst tyres are being changed
Supernaut Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 In my typical luck, I looked up some brake parts for the potential Civic project on Amazon. No cheaper than ECP, and made by worse brands. Anyway, which car(s) will you be bringing to Knockhill in November? Asimo 1
bub2006 Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 I can't work out how to buy online at amazon!
The Moog Posted September 22, 2016 Author Posted September 22, 2016 How come Bub? Have a look at the departments and choose car and you should be able to find stuff. It seems the odder the car the easier it is to get bits.
The Moog Posted September 22, 2016 Author Posted September 22, 2016 Anyway, which car(s) will you be bringing to Knockhill in November?Definitely starlet. Currently I don't have a car two ... Although keep looking for a cheapy.
