1988 Peugeot 309 1.9 D

Here at base camp, I am sitting behind a large desk, with buttons of various sizes, flashing lights and flags laid out in a haphazard fashion before me.

XUD9 control to advance party Legend, over.

Are you underway, over.

AFFIRMATIVE. THE CAT IS IN THE PIPE. FIVE BY FIVE.

Somewhere in Durham, Filthyjohn and copilot are setting off toward Boston to collect a while phase one 309 on behalf of Shitpeas enterprises Plc.

In true Autoshite fashion, they are going Commando (sans tools) in a V6 Japanese sports coupe from the 1990s.

With a fair wind, there may be updates.

Wish them luck.

I give this one a month ;)

9/4. How much would you like as a stake?

Is it a vegetarian?

The last MOT told of binding brakes and a leaky radiator. It's done three thousand miles since then, so I'm sure it's fixed itself by now. What with it being French and all.

If anyone in the area sees a flare go up after dark tonight though, please do attend to give emergency aid if possible.

Arse

Usual early 309 issue of duff tailgate earth, so the wiper and HRW don't work. Turns out earthing things through the tailgate struts is a stupid idea.

All readings normal, controls responsive, autopilot engaged.

When Purgrot made decent cars, WTAF has gone so wrong?

I would have loved to have gone, but have commitments of the corporate variety currently.

Would this be the none turbot xud?

I reckon you'll have another 5 motors before you decide you should have kept the 405/305 (delete as appropriate) last year

Yeah it's the n/a 1.9.

I don't regret selling the 405 or 305. I do regret selling the White phase2 1.9 xud 309 though. Hence: these things which we are doing today.

The circulation of old cars around the roads of England (and Scotchland) helps to stabilise the earths orbit, and contributes 0.4% of the heat required to keep the hedgehog population alive during the winter months.

We at Shitpeas Enterprises inc put the welfare of YOU and various hedgehogs before our own financial wellbeing.

We are committed to delivering excellence in the field of automotive idiocy and always look to improve standards where possible.

We value all constructive feedback and thank you for taking the time to comment.

I find myself on a coach to have a once-in-a-lifetime dinner party, and am more excited about this collection.

Guess I'm just a sucker for good writing and potential* heartbreak.

I was watching this on  ebay and very nearly bid against you, I had a 309 back in the day, paid the pricely sum of £50 quid for it!, silver with a green bonnet.

Houston, we have a problem.

Telemetry from the command module is coming in garbled.

The bird is flying erratic.  Instruments failing.

analysis of XUDs of that time (pre 405 in my mind)

309: lighter, better handling, faster

305 saloon:more robust

305 estate: more useful

BX: wierd.  twice as long to get a gearbox off cos the pipes get in the way

Horizon: rust

all of them are brilliant in their own way

When I bought my first 305 XUD (in about 1991) they were a good bit cheaper than 309s

I went looking for a Horizon but they were already f&$#ed even then.

Confirm they are past the point of no return.  Have helm control And are going to continue.
