M'coli Posted March 7, 2016 Author Posted March 7, 2016 Surprisingly spacious, this wee car - I thought I would have to take the mudguards off, but no. The handlebars have been loosened and moved just to give the glass a little more room, but the bike's in! RobT and Lacquer Peel 2
rml2345 Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Excellent! AXs are for winners and 3 stud ones are better still. Would love to know how yours actually stops though as mine requires a herculean shove to pull up.
M'coli Posted March 7, 2016 Author Posted March 7, 2016 It doesn't take much effort, the 106 had shit 3-stud brakes, Halfords pads and aftermarket discs helped greatly to the point that they don't scare the shit out of me anymore, and these are better still.
JayW Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Tell me more about this dishwasher tablet lark...Seconded...
KruJoe Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Crumble up a powder type tablet, and add it to your expansion tank and run it for a bit (anything from five minutes at full temp, up to five weeks, depending how scared you are of it melting your heater matrix or whatever). Drain and flush. Watch all the crap and shite run out. And flush again, lots. Refill as per HBOL. Lacquer Peel and strangeangel 2
320touring Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 Seconded...as Joe says its not too complex-I did it on my pug 306-pics of what I did here https://fuguttycars.wordpress.com/2016/01/09/proper-puggit-preperationings/ face 1
andrew e Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 I can't quite tell - is it blue or purple? Cos' if it's purple I haz (since 1994 I've had it!) a can of GENUINE TROPICAL VIOLET paint. As long as I've had the limp since crashing said deezel powared coloured AX.
sloth Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 i had a phase 1 106 1.5d, it ate 3 gearboxes in 4 months. the 3 stud shafts snapped twice. it ended up with a 4 stud setup, shafts and a rallye gearbox. after that it fucked the linkages, and then ripped the captives out of the shell for the back beam...... apart from all that it was awesome. is it chip friendly?
M'coli Posted March 9, 2016 Author Posted March 9, 2016 As Rusty Rocket says, the TUD5 is for winners! Having had a TUD4-engined Metro before, I wasn't expecting great things, but PSA made the lemon great with the TUD5, I'm really beginning to love this engine! A smooth lump of torque from FA-revs to the governor - it getws a wee bit smoky at the top end - but, it's just really nice to drive. Shame it has the pompe of no neat chips. mouseflakes Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 ^ Totally agree with that - I loved our old Saxo 1.5D. Great fun to drive.
Lacquer Peel Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Ideal for sub-10 minute laps of the Nurburgring. Peugeot-Citroën had small diesels mastered by the 90s, XUD and TUD are great engines.
Lankytim Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 I'm sure I've got some steels with new tyres on for one of these somewhere, yours if you want them.

Mr_Bo11ox Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 Can't see any possible way you can do it then, soz Lacquer Peel, Joey spud, The Moog and 4 others 7
Jim Bell Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 Our dishwasher at work is called Mary. Her tablets are HRT. I crumbled some up and put them in the header tank. Now the car won't stop crying. Etc. r.welfare, BorniteIdentity, Joey spud and 2 others 5
explosive-cabbage Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 airlock bubbles are what I'm hoping Yes, most likely. There is a small bleed cap on a thin water pipe near the driver's side suspension turret. Fill the tank and run the engine until bubbles stop coming out.
