Anyone breaking an old Laguna V6 24V?

I'm about ten miles southeast of Peterborough. Kettle's always on, and if you want to try driving it home I can advise you the best way to be found in case steam happens.

I am now starting to be pissed off that this car is still here, especially after I investigated the problem more closely for the benefit of anyone wanting to drive it away and I got kicked in the nuts for doing so.

The heater is intermittent, and someone has tried Radwelding it - this was also my plan, but it seems someone else has been there and fucked up before me. It's bunged the matrix, water isn't circulating, and it's overheating. The HGF is also pressurising the cooling system and it's venting not via the gasket or rad but via the pressure cap.

And, as happened over the weekend, emitting a colossal geyser which has soaked/Radwelded the side and interior of my freshly valeted Rover 75, which happened to be parked next to it with an open window.

If this car isn't gone by the time Jon returns from his holiday I will be asking him to phone the nice man with the big squashy machine. Last orders, gents!

Bad luck, sounds pretty terminal! Just 'accidentally' weigh it before he gets back from his hols (*goes to fetch popcorn*)

It sounds like this one is past the point of repair unfortunately. Given that its just given you a 2 finger salute in the way of hurting another stablemate, I'm surprised you haven't sent it off already. To be honest, for retaliation to it, I'd contact the local fire brigade and see if they want it for cutting up practice or a local college to let them play around with it in a mechanics course.

Looking at the hassle this car has caused I'm just astounded it's not been sacked off ages ago. What is the point of it still existing? Seriously?

With all respect to Jon, and I know he is out of pocket after collecting it, the reason it hasn't sold is because realistically it's scrap fodder, and scrap is on its knees at the moment. I guess he'd have to pay someone to take it away.

I don't know much about the Clio 24v boys, but surely if they'd pay £150 for an engine, it would be one that was running and not overheating with blown head gasket (s)?

That way it can boil student's faces with Holt's Radweld, and nobody likes them.

It clearly has no respect, its attacked a 75, it has no shame.

Take it to the bridge, it threw its coolant overboard
See if it can swim, back up to the shore
No one's in the house, pretent you are out
All the lights are on and the blinds are down

Do a runner when Jon's in town

The only reason it hasn't gone is it's not mine to send off, it's Jon's. Unless anyone steps in with a last minute reprieve, it's dead.

Cavcraft - Jon seemed to think he potentially had a buyer for it which is why I let it stay while he went on holiday.

Working examples of that generation Laguna... ... actually, working and Laguna are not two words that can be put in the same sentence.

Try again...

Ones that appear* not to have a HGF, are still around.

Like this for just* £675 (£275 more than a newer Lag II v6....)

I'm all up for saving unusual engined French stuff, but this one looks like it needs to die.

Fuck me, it's a Laguna with a v6, it's hardly a facel vega.

It's not rare or sought after.

Just tell him it's fixed.

Then when he drives away in it park something in the entrance so the AA can't put it back.

I would bridge the fucking thing, and bollocks to matey - his loss. But I would remove a few choice bits - engine ECU, lock set and any V6 specific bits such as instruments, ABS unit etc. Small bits that will all fit into a cardboard box that you can smuggle into a grey wheelie bin if (!) they don't sell on Ebay. And of course the splitta. At least then you can adversities the stuff on the bay and get a few quid back, maybe.

I think putting the whole car on Ebay would be a more painful, wanker infested route to the car being dropped into the shredder which is the best place for it.

I'm still amused and amazed that Jon spent actual money on the thing.

But that's the amusing part. He's currently in a hotel somewhere reading this and muttering about corsas ☺

Sounds like it's future is sealed to be honest, just put it down to a poor life choice, like taking a girl home after a drunk night out and waking up the following morning and finding she has a better beard then you.

And a Renault tattoo around her lady bits.

Or a fanny like a lagoon, a?

Went out to pull a bird, but ended up with a wren.......oh......

I'll get me coat.

Can't you bury it or something?

It was free I think, minus the costs of collection/recovery.

That's good. I'd hate to think that anyone would actually exchange cash for it. Paying to collect it is bad enough.

Paying to get shut is understandable.

With throttle held wide open with a brick, how long will a Renault V6 run for without oil or coolant? Just asking.

About as long as without oil or coolant, or indeed a brick on the throttle.
