Rent Free Welding Gas bottle Suppliers

Recommended Posts

Looking into getting probably a small cylinder for use at home as I'm getting through loads of the disposable bottles and it's costing me a fortune.

Does anyone use a supplier for the rent free returnable ones they would recommend?

I'm looking for one in the NE of England as well. I want to resurrect my Murex 160 but struggling for gas.

Hobbyweld is owned by Dixons of Westernope in the north east. You'll have no trouble getting it in the north east.

I have a regulator with twin gauges for flow and amount left in bottle,

I have a BOC bottle and the gauge reads just under the red, while waiting on the bottle to be delivered I used a new sealed hobyweld bottle and the gauge was less than half,

I'll give the hobbyweld stockist a ring tomorrow and watch out for any short filled canisters. Thanks everyone

You anywhere near Birtley?

Last Friday I set another account up at BOC. They now do a small argoshiled light bottle that is equivalent to around 30 hobby bottles, and it is only £20.

Annual rent is £25.

Ideal, IMO.

I have used both Adams and hobby weld, I can't split them on quality so it comes down to who is closest now.

Find some pub gas bottles

Remove any ID marks on them by filling, grinding or whatever.

Take them to a friendly fire extinguisher place and get them refilled for around £15

No rental, no hassle

Hobbyweld is cheaper than disposable cylinders but still can get expensive.

As above, pub CO2 is much cheaper. Perhaps a controversial view; but I actually prefer welding with it.

Just been to BOC to open an account and got a PD sized bottle of argosheild. They are doing an offer with the first year of the cylinder being rent free.

Just waiting for an adaptor to come now so I can use it with my mig set. Which uses the mini air lines.
