it's one of about fiteen in the UK, so not exactly easy to resell or even break for parts.

I'm guessing stolen to order. Could well be on it's way out of the country.

even off out the country - it's a small market of very knowledgable people.

Not the sort of thing you wouldn't notice, I have only ever seen one KR175 and that was a very rotten one on the back of a pick-up in about 1984, when I worked in Cheltenham with a Messerschmitt afficionado/nutter

On the plus side, should be easy to identify on the oval.

more likely to be found at the greyhound racing, as the 'rabbit'

Who would steal a plane?

Ah!

Bugger. Hope they find it. Intact.

it was the only thing stolen - not just from the garage but also from the row ... someone wanted it. Nick has had it 30 years + so it's upsetting.

Like I said. I'm sure it's destined for someone's private collection. Very upsetting I'm sure, but I'm not confident considering it was the only thing touched that it'll be seen again.

when it was restored, it had some body mods done that are unique to the car so it is very very distinctive. If it reappears, even fiddled with, or in parts, it'll be obvious.

But as you imply, stolen to order.

The new "owner" must be planning on hiding it away for years, not taking it out for shows and club runs etc, as the car will be hotter than (insert clever and amusing hotness comparative).

I'll pass it on, I know a few folk on Edinburgh, so you never know. More eyes on the case...

Or the new owner will buy it from a supplier, who stole it as they knew someone is after one of these and the new owner will be very dissapointed when its taken off them.

dumped on waste ground - currently surround by forensics bods before recovery.

This has made my day.  There might be more important shit in the world, but I still find this stuff really upsetting.  Sorry!  Human moment.

Good news, probably too hot to handle. I know this seems to be said all the time, but the amount of classics you hear about being nicked at the moment is staggering. There was a spell the other week where a different Cortina seemed to be pinched every flipping day! There are some brazen scumbags about so you can never be overly cautious.

Perhaps in the act of pushing it as far as the waste ground they sobered up enough to realise how FUCKING STUPID they were and that their plan to hide it in the cupboard under the stairs would mean there would be no room for the hoover.
