SiC Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Just hope it goes back up in time, before another rain/hail shower hits Cavcraft 1
Jim Bell Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Something something something steep hill. The Moog, dome and Cavcraft 3
Station Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 I've downloaded a manual for it,. Cavcraft, nacho man, Pillock and 7 others 10
Split_Pin Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 I quite fancy a pre 2001 Clio once the Megane expires. The Tigra should sell double for nae probs too! Cavcraft 1
cort16 Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Do you think it's HG on the Tigra? I thought those 18xe engines were pretty bomb proof?
Cavcraft Posted October 2, 2016 Author Posted October 2, 2016 Seems to have lost all it's water and is harder to start than it should be, plus a bit of mayo on the cap. The seller said it was the water pump and head gasket, yet mentioned the water pump as having been replaced not that long ago. Personally, I'd have been back to the garage who fitted it and booted off about it.
beko1987 Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 my stepdads last company Zafira (2.0cdti) emptied it's header tank occasionally. never blew up in his ownership though
SiC Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 Is compression test the first thing on the list for it?
Cavcraft Posted October 2, 2016 Author Posted October 2, 2016 I'll whang a 'for sale' thread up shortly. SIC: thanks, probably the best idea that. I'm trying to work the Tigra into a trader mate of mine though as it is, as they seem to be making quite good money in good condition.
Kiltox Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 If he doesn't want it I might become your other trader mate Cavcraft 1
Cavcraft Posted October 2, 2016 Author Posted October 2, 2016 I'll be interested in having a chat about that, Kiltox. I'll message you later or something, cheers.
fordperv Posted October 2, 2016 Posted October 2, 2016 at least if the headgasket needs replacing its a nice quick and easy job
Station Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Those Tigras are nice looking cars and must be easy sellers. Why not try some KSeal to see if it is the HG? It might be a crack in the block.
SiC Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 For the cost of K-Seal, it would be a better buy to get a cheap compression tester and see if its HGF first. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUTOMOTIVE-PETROL-ENGINE-COMPRESSION-TESTER-KIT-VALVE-TIMING-GAUGE-PRO-CYLINDER-/350906166022
Kiltox Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Those are unreliable - buy the Clarke one from Machine Mart for not much more even if it looks like the same thing in a different box
Cavcraft Posted October 3, 2016 Author Posted October 3, 2016 It's defo lobbed it's water out and there's pressure in the header tank, pretty convinced it's HGF now to be honest. Parts wise it shouldn't break the bank if we bother fixing it, and had a quote of £330 all in from a garage. anonymous user, Craig the Princess and oldcars 3
Cavcraft Posted October 3, 2016 Author Posted October 3, 2016 Remember that God awful Kia thing I bought a year or two ago, it was dark and the pictures were shite? Well, here's the 2k16 equivalent, a bought in the dark 2003 Astra SXi with pretty much measured-in-minutes MOT remaining, the front bumper hanging off and 198,000 miles on the clock.... Craig the Princess, oldcars, phil_lihp and 1 other 4
RoadworkUK Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 The mediocrity is palpable. Great stuff! Cavcraft, chaseracer and Skizzer 3
SiC Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Engine? For a Vauxhall to last that many miles it surely has to be a rattly 2.0DTi or Isuzu 1.7 D?
SiC Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Given the age, I'd thought it'd be a Z16XE? As iirc fly-by-wire was the main differentiator on the Z. My 2002 club was a Z16XE (with the FBW throttle). Cavcraft 1
Cavcraft Posted October 3, 2016 Author Posted October 3, 2016 It's going to have the 'fly by Cartakeback' indifferentiator on it soon. anonymous user, oldcars, chaseracer and 2 others 5
SiC Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 If coil pack, EGR and ECU+BCM+transponder ring+lock set+key are all good, you'll get a few pennies for that. All can be removed with torx bits and not needing to go under the car. These are especially known for having their ECUs die, giving camshaft+other codes and the ECUs being electrically unfixable. Cavcraft 1
fordperv Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 or put a redtop in it (the calibra im onabout) Cavcraft 1
Cavcraft Posted October 7, 2016 Author Posted October 7, 2016 And verily did the scrap man collect thine Astra. egg, cobblers, RoadworkUK and 2 others 5
Cavcraft Posted October 7, 2016 Author Posted October 7, 2016 Amd that's the MX5 sold. I promised myself it'd go before the MOT went to give someone a chance to drive it back home and have a few weeks of fun with it. As it transpires, it went to someone who is probably everyone's favourite RR-er. I'll be sorry to see it go, it's been absolutely brilliant fun and I'm definitely going to get another next year or something.
RoadworkUK Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Ah, well you've still got the Tigra. Oh, shit. Cavcraft 1
Cavcraft Posted October 7, 2016 Author Posted October 7, 2016 I genuinely LOL'd at that! I'm now down to: CalibraTigra406TD ModernSaxoCombo I've just realised 4 of the 6 are Vauxhalls.
