Take the money and run like the wind Forest. Your car fella, do with it what you will :)

As long as your costs are covered then what the heck.

What are these like to drive. I should imagine "like a tank"?

They're excellent to drive. Very comfy and capable cars, the seats are the best I've ever sat in, in any car. I've got a bad back and these are one of the few cars I can drive all day long without feeling any aches or pains. They aren't particularly fast but they are well made and durable.

I absolutely love them and would drive one anywhere without worry.

Everyone should have one at some point. I regret selling my last saloon version and would love another, maybe in 2016 I'll get myself a nice 2.3GLE auto estate.

This one is like a very bouncy tank, because the dampers are all shot. Great turn in though, and it seems pretty grippy too. They are at their best in 2.3-litre, automatic flavour. Then they can be quite entertaining. The 2-litre really hasn't got the power to hang its arse out. Seats are a bit big and flat for my liking, but they're certainly comfy.

I liked the way my 940 diesels drove. The chassis is really safe, tending towards mild understeer, they don't encourage hooning but you can throw them about a bit.

Old school diesel boost great for drifting, if the roundabout is greasy enough.

Mega comfy.

I would have another, a decent one, as I like the way they feel to drive.

It was purely the electrical gremlins that have put me off this one, and the 940 drank 5 litres of oil in a week.

It was an adventure, albeit short lived.

I have 3 people queued up to buy this, all banger racers, but they don't want it for racing - I think they have spied the towbar and want a cheap 'pulling' car.

Um, are you sure about that? Most of them have trucks, and Volvo estates are popular for the track...

It is beyond saving, really. Water has got in everywhere, meaning it will have electrical issues its whole life.

Fair do's mate. Better to go out with a bang than to just fade away.

Selling my V70 was one of the stupidest things I did. At the time it made perfect sense. It didn't matter that it was utterly spotless, had been a complete bargain because the private seller had seemed pleased that a respectful young couple were looking for a nice, big, safe family estate car and knocked £200 off the price for me, had a fully stamped service history, recent cambelt change with receipts for over £1,200 spent in the previous 18 months because the gentleman was one of those who basically paid Volvo to deal with all of the advisories on any given MOT ("I can't be selling a car that has advisories on it!"), or was a lower spec "S" model that had been given every conceivable option going by the person who bought it first....nope.

I sold it because it had the 2.4 20v N/A engine with 140hp, and it was a bit slow, and very thirsty.

I sold it to a chap who was looking to upgrade from his 1992 2.0 240 GLT estate, which had been owned since new, and had gone from the midlands to Scotland every year, five up, including luggage and dog.

When I gave it beans onto the local dual carriageway he looked thoroughly impressed. He was bemused by the vast array of buttons on the dashboard.

As he drove off in it, I suddenly had AWFUL pangs of guilt. WHAT HAD I DONE?! This guy had seen the car for what it was, an utter gem, and I'd simply discarded it because I couldn't overtake people in a hurry.

I was originally making a point about how it having a 2.0 engine with not much poke wasn't an issue, but that point is moot now. I JUST HAD TO SHARE THESE FEELINGS TO MAKE THE GUILT STOP. :(
