I was up at 3am. I have a cold. My decent coat is in the dry cleaners. I am getting on a train (several in fact). I am picking up a soggy Volvo in Wales. It is freezing.

After a bit of a wait for the tube, and a quick toilet / coffee / chicken and ham slice stop, I'm now on a train to Edinburgh. No, I'm not lost, but this train goes via Birmingham, where I need to change onto the train to Caersws.

Did you miss the bowl while reading all that information ?

It's bloody beautiful in this part of Wales! Sunshine and everything. I am now awake but there's still about an hour until I have to head to our rendezvous. A local farmer happens to be travelling past at a helpful time, so I don't have to resort to the train to get home myself! It takes almost two hours to get from Caersws to Aberystwyth, so me driving a bit further saves Panda a whole heap of time - useful when he's got so far to go!

And I'm grateful for that! It has been a long morning so far!

And so, the Volvo begins its journey Eastwards. Up and running and ready to depart!

Still got the tail end of Frank rolling in, think its rained 7 days running!! Nice motor, Bon Voyage as the Swedes say !

This car is horrid.

I think I may catch Ebola.

You've just collected a damp Swede in rainy Wales from a hippie journo.

Recalibrate your expectations...  ;)

Where are the pics of the mouldy headlining, I mean, headboard? ;)

It was barreliing along most merrily this morning. With a set of dampers and a good interior sort out, it'd be a nice motor.

Here's Panda's train getting in.

First breakage... rev counter.

That stopped working for me after about ten minutes. You should consider yourself lucky that it worked at all! In terms of gauges, speedometer is absolutely spot on, temp gauge seems fine, rev counter intermittent, fuel gauge exceedingly random and not to be trusted. Was filled however many miles ago it says on the trip.

Most of the dashboard bulbs don't work, so familiarise yourself with the heater controls while you can still see them. ;)

On the positive side, I'm still going.

On the other hand, I have the following issues...

Sticky brake

No cigar lighter

No rev counter

No wipers

No horn

No radio

No heater fan
