shite day trippin'

Anyone interested in some shite collective meets this year? Weather is starting to perk up a bit, so maybe it would be nice to have some gatherings of enthusiastic owners of rubbish cars at relevant places of interest, i.e. museums of old tat etc. Nothing too fancy like, just some old crocks & some chat on sunday afternoon. Quite fancy a visit to that 'Atwell Wilson' jobbie, plus theres the marvellously rubbish museum at stondon... there must be moar of these places too. Opinions?

The Stondon one is good for me. Pog, you going to do some sort of phone vote for dates like X Factor does? :P

Stondon would be good. Have they got much parking space?

I've only been there once but it wasn't exactly crowded with tourists....If we get 10 cars it'll probably be 5 times as many as they normally get, and there's plenty of room for that sort of number.

Be good to think we can do something, though for me family/house commitments always seem to conspire against doing much. What about a repeat of the Bubblecar Museum weekend? Despite the sale and apparent refocus of their attention on British stuff, looks like they are still around and hosting stuff.

The atwell folks were top notch, anybody have contacts for the reserve science museum collection at Wroughton? Subject to my 2 out of 4 weekends shift lottery I'd happily come!

im a bit of a n00b to this place, but im incoventry museum has the largest collection of british made tat

I'd be up for some shiting too!:D

with just one 't', natch.Yeah I'd be up for a sunday afternoon meander somewhere. Anywhere central-ish really. How about a Newark autojumble meet, just to be completely selfish since that's about 15 miles away :)

Yes-geography & wife permitting.Where's Stondon?Wuvvum.No.(-but thanks for the thought). Paranoid after the fire..

The Lincoln one would suit me fine. Super Minx, Maestro, Allegro, what else would one need?

Posted

I'm up for it; London Essex, Home Counties, Midlands, whatever.

I'd be up for a Canvey jaunt - its nearby and it would be nice to get out somewhere where the kids WONT want to come! I have no shite to bring sadly :( but keen to see what everyone has. I hope Hirst can make it!

Canvey is only buses though, fairly limited interestwise, and it's not that big either. (I drive past it on a regular basis...)

This seems like a vehhhy Southern board.Build it and I might come if I can get a car wot works innit. Is the Shitefest advertised on FaceFuck still going ahead?

Not even if you took the wheel of a magical mystery bus full of blindfolded Autoshiters driving round and around in disorientating circles for hours and hours blasting out Pink Floyd/The Cardiacs/Aphex Twin prior to arrival? Am up for a meetup this year for sure.
Posted

I'd be up for meet. Not too far from my home though, just in case I want to leave early in the event that I find I don't like any of you.

"Blasting out The Cardiacs before arrival"? That's what happens in my car all the time. The epitome of a "autoshite house" band - very strange, they're all quite old, and only a few people "get" them.

Posted

I'd be up for something north of Birmingham subject to not working etc...Anyway, how about an Autoshite stand at the RR Gathering in August or whenever??

Posted

I'd be up for some meets, subject to having a working vehicle at the time that is...

It's a bit southern, and I've never been there (which is an advantage really) but how about here? http://www.whitewebbsmuseum.co.uk/

Enfield, so handy location to get there for most, with good motorway links. Apparently, there's three floors of exhibits.
