Differences in Dealer Support/Citroen Part request

My old boy went to the local BMW dealers to get rear light seals/boot seals for the 316 e30.

"Certainly Sir, £46. I must apologise as it may take up to 4 days to get them here from Germany-we'll ring you when they come in"

I called up Citroen (part of the same dealer network) for a de-aeration chamber for the CX.

"We only go back as far as the AX, need to try a club m8. click brrrrr"

brilliant!

so does anyone have a CX de-aeration chamber available?

if not I shall continue to try and source it via the internets

Citroen are just shit. Utter wankers who could not give a toss about older models. Try Stuart at Andrew Brodie Engineering. He sorted me out for some CX bits when I had mine.

Depending on who you speak to at my local ford dealer you get the same fluctuations in service

I have sent a hopeful email to Brodies..

Worst case I'll replace it with a Y connector!

Go on google and search for "citroen service box".

Its Citroens online parts catalogues-register login details as a company(barrys dodgy motors or summats) and then you can find the part number, ring your local dealer with it and bobs your uncle.

I seem to remember a home-made one on a car at a club meeting. Copper heating pipes braised together or something.

Just checking our stores now.

Edit; we have one, genuine Citroen, 20quid plus postage.

Did you break yours or has it burst of its own accord?

Sounds good chap.

It has burst of its own accord- when I took it out it had been subject to a prior repair!

out of interest do you have a set of the low pressure brake pipes-small bore pipe worth banjo style fittings?

Will fire up the microfiche, what year is it?

Apparently they usually only burst in normal use if the head gasket is in it's way.

Don't say that chap:( had no visible contam.

other parts- likely easiest if you let me know what you have in stock!

its a 1981 2.4i auto with air con in Prestige format.

drop me a PM and I'll think what I'm needing:)

thanks for the help

The only head gasket I've ever heard that went was Neil hothams 450bhp thing. Other than that they seem Long lived. They're 30 yr old plastic that gets brittle with age. Don't worry too much about it.

I'm not. the actual lump looks simple enough. just everything that is bolted to it that is wonky:)

2975cc 12valve PRV. I'll ferret around for the chassis number in a bit after I've got this work away and sorted.

Hmm, shared only with the XM V6 so we are unlikely to have one in stock I'm afraid, I will ask though.

Result! Pleased to report that I've finally got my slider for the XM too! Well Chevronics are posting me one. Almost as expensive as Citroen, but not Citroen so I'm happy.

Just had another thought. I've got a mate who is the parts manager for Citroen Classics in Middlesex. Usually older stuff than CXs but he may be worth a try if you're stuck for stuff Neil?

There's a cx at our old unit, Don't think anyone would notice if some parts went missing...
