Like clamshell bonnet.

Like frameless windows.

Like shape.

Don't like the colours these usually have. They would look fine in pogweasel red or all over tomato soup orange with steel wheels and hubcaps or that grim grey-green that 1967 mini vans usually came in.

Always thought the 'new' Mini to be a bit meh, but a couple of months ago I borrowed my cousins Cooper and I actually found it a nice little car to chuck about. So much so that I've kept an eye on prices to see where they are at.

Would be completely unpractical for family use due to 3dr and tiny boot, but I would consider trying one for the daily grind.

I would like to try one. I quite like the look of them but I don't like to admit it. Oh arse.

Here's a cheapy low miler with the right gearbox..

http://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/321934481333

It might not be high spec but it's cheap for a low mileage late R50.

It just goes to show it doesn't need much to get a car written off surely about £400 would have it looking nice.

I think if I had the money I would buy it and just drive it with the dents

Really ? Far too popular to be futureshite surely ?

Say that to a cavalier

I don't mind the older BINI. I've had a go in a couple & was impressed by the go kart handling and willing engine, not so much by the fussy dashboard and the crashy ride of 'tuned' ones.

I wouldn't have one myself but I understand why people would. Plus, in 10 - 20 years' time tidy examples will sell like hot cakes to folks wanting to relive their yoof.

I do have to reserve a slight LOL when people talk of these new ones being unreliable. I can only guess these people didn't own an 'original' Mini, because as fun as they were, they were pissing awful at build quality or reliability.

This times eleventy!!

I love Minis but like Landies they are flipping awful really

Lana has one - didn't like the idea of it to start with, but must admit it's fun to drive, and not too much has needed doing in the 4 years/70k miles she's had it.

Have a picture of me changing the brake pipes:

Interestingly, we looked at a few when she bought it and there was a big difference in how solid the interiors felt, even amongst similar mileage cars. Some felt rather flimsy and 'French', while others were more as the reputation would have you believe.

"Raise the vehicle and support it securely on..."

'Ang on, diesel do...

Calendar-worthy that one.

I've driven* these, and while I don't like most small cars, I do see the appeal. I'd much rather drive a Toyota Sariy because they put the speedometer and the window switches where they belong. They also seem quite expensive for what they offer, and I wonder how safe they are without runflats, as I believe BMW specified them because of tire failure safety test results? Nice cars those, but a Sheissler CLKssfire is more my cup of coffee...

*not very far, actually.

I've never liked them , but then I don't like proper Minis either.

Driven loads over the years, Ma N is on her second Cooper and two Sister-in-laws have got floppy tops (fnarr, fnarr). Always enjoy driving them ,but I'm too old for little buzz boxes.

With a house full of women it's inevitable that we'll end up with one, in fact I looked at a couple in the summer but it seems the sub£1000 ones are all knackered at the moment, give it a year.

A client who lives in the middle of nowhere ,uses a JCW as his station car and reckons it's faster A-B than his 911 Turbo or new shape RR Sport Supercharger. He's had 3 carbon fibre roof spoilers either damaged or nicked though.

I just bid on a cooper-s right now but got out bid because I forgot about it until the last minute then fumbled my bid. There might be a 2nd chance off to come, we'll see!
