When are you going to tell us what it is? Presumably K-Series powered, but which of the fine steeds is it fitted to?

15 minutes of quality useage from a new motor? Sounds reasonable*.

Unless it was virtually free, I'd be getting Mr AAA to dump it back outside the previous owners house, prior to the refund.

oh have I not said what it is??? and it was so cheap I will be able to mend it and still have bought a cheap car....its only got 51,000 on the clock ffs... not bad for a 12 year old car...

So time to reveal what heap of non-working poo I have bought.... it has proper door handles ...

which in 2003 can only mean one thing....

Yep a Croozer.... having got top marks in the "too shite for autoshite" thread and as I have always wanted one it was basically only a matter of time....

Things I like about it already are the heated leather seats for winter and with suede inserts so you can drive in shorts and a T-shirt in summer. 4 cup holders, proper old school gauges and the back seats come right out if you need to carry bulky stuff. Oh and a hatch back that opens high enough so you don't bang your head on it....

Finally there is the 5 position rear shelf.....so normal at the top... half way down, at the bottom...at the back as shown...

There is even a "table" position for picnics.... clever eh....

Now all I have to do is get it fixed !!!!!!

AFAIK I'm the only other person here who has any love for the PT at all.... predictably, having actually owned one, I love it.  I'd have another like a shot, this afternoon even.  Well bought sir, it's even a lovely colour!

I have to confess...me, too! I like PT Cruisers, but around here are still too expensive (the cheapest is at 1700 euros, or 1000 unregistered in Romania).

Superb work, looks pretty nice in that colour too. So is it confirmed OMGHGF? Whats a new HG on one of these cost or is it a DIY job?

I'll let the Solent Renegades (or whatever they were called) I saw at Port Solent Tesco in one of these know you need a membership form, do you get discount on shiny trinkets at Halfords as part of the deal?

Mockery aside, whats it like to drive, other than head gasket fail-ey? 150bhp is not a bad output for a N/A 2.0 from the late 90s, does it like being revved or is it a bit like whipping an elderly donkey?

Has anyone got any experience of the 2.4 4-cyl one of these? Whats that like?

ah, so it was something completely and utterly unexpected, well done!

even if it has gone and shat itself after 30 minutes..

No idea I will find out on Monday....but judging by the steady stream of bubbles I would expect it to be HG and again no idea on cost but I was planning to get a garage to do the water pump, timing belt and tensioner so a thermostat and hg change on top hopefully shouldn't be much more... as its only a few more nuts & bolts lol...

Do you reckon it'll be alive in time for the next auction spectacular? The interior looks quite nice, though the gearstick is a bit odd - is it standard?

What do these go for in this condition? Presumably it was buttons if its still financially viable to do a belt, water pump, tensioner, HG and stat on it?

Are you still mobile in the Saab while the works are carried out then?

My folks has one and loved it. From memory fantastic stereo but appaling turning circle. Dad was doing a lot of miles, so it got changed for a diesel VW Golf estate.

I preferred the PT.

Hope the HGF is cheap enough to fix.

GG, yes, the turning circle is huge.  I put it down to being FWD.  Didn't put me off though, not even my old one being manual could.  Golf, indeed: no comparison.  I will never own a Golf.

I'm a secret Pee Tay fan as well. I borrowed a mates one years back - it would have been around 4 or 5 years old at the time. Cambelt tensioner pulley (I think) was squeaking like a twat and you could still hear the bloody thing from the cabin with the windows up. I sprayed it with spray grease a couple of times, but unsurprisingly, it only kept it quiet for a few miles. Despite this, and the fact it didn't feel even a tenth as well built as the mkiv Golf I owned at that time, I still quite liked it. Airy, spacious cabin, different to every other Euro box, nice little detail touches inside and out, and high up driving position. The fact that may people scorn them makes them even tastier.

Good choice 8-)

saw this one at the ferry early this year and the bling doesn't show up very well while wizzing past but is was layered in it.

Oh dear that won't be cheap. My daft sister bought one a few years ago luckily just after I had moved 200 miles away so I couldn't work on it. My mate got the job of the cambelt. For some reason he has barely spoken to me since turns out it was a nightmare and the worst job he has had in a long while. I would of had it dragged back to the seller house and demand my money back straight away.
