The York wheelbarrow day was 3 weeks ago - I was there. Got absolutely shitloads of stuff. The barrows are shagged out and not very big but they do the job. Best to be there at 6 am so you get in the queue for a barrow.

Can you fill the barrow with anything? Eg an engine out of a Range Rover or summat?

engines boxes will cost you 40 plus the price of engine or box unfortunatly .cats batterys an shells are only other things you cant buy . Nothings been pulled an shelfed either .

good selection of landys in today .

Post-05? More like post-2000.

There are shedloads of Pug 206s and Corsa Cs at York, fair selection of VAG shite too, plenty of late '90s A3s and 4s Mk4 Golfs and B5 Passats, but they've all been there a fair while now and are getting a bit manky.

There's a jellymould Saab somewhere in there IIRC

That lovely old saab is long gone . Was gone 3 week ago when i went for some bits for swmbo mk4 fiesta

Cars are placed on laid down steel wheels by a forklift so you can't jack them or move them, it'd be a pain to get a sump from U-Pull-It.

Costs a quid to get in too . One or two rum gits will quaffel at that

I often see Poles with a barrow full of ecus, or alternators all carefully labelled to be sold on ebay. I think they go in the day before, dismantle anything worth while and store it in a lockable boot ready for the barrow day. Fair play to them though where there's muck and all that.

I can't be arsed with that. I leave the house at 5, am there at 6 with a paper and a McDonalds breakfast and am first in the queue, and once in I just go like a pack of pigs at a corpse and the barrow is filled in an hour. Easily removable stuff first (modules, mirrors, ECU's etc) and then the morsels like cylinder heads.

Trouble is, everyone is at the same game now and there isn't a lot there that's valuable. When you're into older BMW stuff like me, a load of 2001 E46 shit is of no value or interest. If there were an E30 or E34, I'd be there on Saturday but I have enough spares now and CBA.

Good hunting for anyone who goes!

Shiter's challenge day out? Wheelbarrow full of quality used parts and see who can make the most on evilbay?

Er, maybe when it's sunny n summer though.

It can happen, last time I went there was an E34 tourer and in a similar vein there's an Audi 100 shape A6 Avant 2.8 quattro at the moment.

They get a fair few E36s.

Problem is, the people doing the parts hoarding ruin other people's chances of getting anything good that they might need.

Silverlake is doing 50% off for black Friday if anyone is near there (Southampton way IIRC)

Opened at 8am .was a decent que by then . Unfortunatly wheel barrow day was on black friday aswell so a bit of work was needed to fill a barrow . As expected it was crawling with eastern europeans . They were litrally starting one end of a row of cars tearing them to bits for anything and everything of value . Piling stuff up and there mate filling barrow after barrow up .

i managed to nab a couple of astra dizzler turbos some winter tires on alloys for my daily shitheap ka , rust free tailgate an plenty of light clusters for various small hatchbacks .

enjoyable morning at the scrapyard but proffit wise id have been better off going to work
