I've just ordered a rad pack off ebay from a breakers,ac rad condenser and coolant rad for 40 quid. Brackets are another 12 and sump God knows. I'll try breakers Mr racer

Posted

Mr FPB7 might be a bit busy for the next few days. Bub, you know why but I'll keep you informed.

Posted

I understand fully sir. I've had a wrestle with the old rad tonight using what limited rusty tools I've managed to reclaim. Still pissed off at that but hey ho. Ac rad absolutely kippered too hence ordering complete rad pack. Ac regas can be done next year. As for sump I'm unsure if I can remove yet, will see what sockets and ratchets I have left.

Posted

Don't forget consumables, you'll need proper coolant (especially coming into winter), sump gasket, oil etc

If I was you I'd keep an eye out for a buggered complete car tbh

Posted

I missed out on a vectra 1.8 with fluffed gearbox for a ton on Gumtree. I have been looking.

Posted

You dont need brackets for a radiator, my old Vectra one was held on with 2 bolts and 2 zip ties, fine for years. Got pissed off half way through trying to refit as a reverse of removal

Posted

Ahh ok,saves a bit of cash for now I suppose. Sump, oil, coolant and rad fitted and then we will see what happens

Yo Bub,

I've looked up Z18XE sumps on the Opel partsbase software and it's spitting out two part numbers-

http://www.partsbase.org/opel/vectra-c-2002-2008-5-3-18-oil-pan-and-fittings/

90536418 and 55352133.

Unfortunately the website is a copy of the genuine GM parts software so you can't search the correct part by vehicle reg or VIN and it doesn't tell you the difference between the two sumps but I'd imagine it will be something like one has fittings for an oil level sensor etc.

Anyway, both part numbers service lots of different models so may help you, have a good look at the link above, it's very helpful if you don't have the dealer software.
Good luck and I hope you fix the car for as little as possible :)

Thanks rusty. I'll look at that. My sump (or what's left)has a sensor on a plate at the front of it.

This is a stones throw from me, if a local to me shitter could drag it to my mums house in Marlow (or their own if they have the space), and we all chip in to buy it with a cheeky £50 offer or suchlike, I dont mind removing the sump, wheels and whatever else you need Daz, and storing them until you bimble your pug down to collect one day? Or start a shitely relay up your way

Then just phoning up the nearest pikey in my local paper and getting it craned away (providing me mum's up for having it sat on her drive for a week of course) for £whatevs they will give, probably fuck all

I presume a borked engine and box means it's not driveable, could ask the question if people think it's a go-er?

Almost certainly the same engine etc, but could that Gumtree one be a late 'B' rather than a 'C' like Bub's? It doesn't mention engine being knackered by the way, just clutch and box.

Posted

The engine should be the same though shouldn't it? If someone comes forward to help move it 8 miles I'll phone up and go have a look and check the oil sensor is in the same place etc. Would B wheels fit a C if the worse happened? If it was a C I'd try and remove track rod ends, droplinks etc as well just in case they turn out to be fuubared after their meeting with the rocks.

Any bucks/berks/oxon but that starts to be a bit far shiters with an A frame/low loader in the area? The marlow to henley road is a cunt to break down on, don't fancy trying to drive it back in 3rd unless the seller just means 'slipping clutch' or something

Posted

Yeah, engine almost certainly the same. Ian will know better than I do, but I think even if it's a late 'B' it should hopefully have ABS and thus five stud wheels, which will fit Bub's.

Posted

I know pre face lifts are 4 stud on the b,post are 5 as mentioned and if they are same pcd than great. On the c I have 215/50/16 wheels I think. Abs sensors would be handy too! Thanks beko that would be most appreciated if we could arrange something then I can boogey on down to strip it with you. A lot of bits could be put on ebay if it's a b vectra to recoup money back,if it's a c though then plenty of spares!

Posted

Yea, we could arrange a weekend should it all pull together, but I'll be aiming for a quick turnaround on stripping it to getting it gone (I have no off street parking at my house, so it would have to be my mums, and once the wheels are off it obv cant be moved, unless you come down with your wheels so we can at least push it back into the corner)

Unless some friendly shiter such as Arthur Foxhake could lend us a space in his yard for a few weeks so we can be a bit more thorough with the stripping down of it? Then you could spend some time getting a proper list of wanted items and we could spend some time getting them off, rather than 1 rushed weekend of stripping then getting it gone by the next.

I've sent the bloke a text in my best 'not a gumtree mong' style, will wait for a reply first.

Should be 205/55/16 I think, fairly popular as some Mondeos had that sized tyre, too. 'B' wheels do fit, pretty sure they actually carried at least one 'style' of alloy over from former to latter. My C was running on these

postadsuk.com-vectra-alloys.JPG

Which I think were fitted to the 'B' too.

Posted

If it's a vectra b there isn't much I don't think bar maybe wheels, abs sensors, sump, rad, starter motor etc but if it's a c vectra then almost every thing can be saved for future use

Posted

Yep, let's hope it's a C.

I'll update when/if I hear back from the seller. Don't want to phone him until we have transportation and storage sorted so I don't end up fucking him about, there's a chance it's already gone too I suppose.

Posted

I'm going to start looking for vectras on Gumtree too, never thought of this!

Posted

It might be an easier way to do it

Even if we have to pay the full £100, all the parts you would get would offset this, if the wheels have ok tyres on that will save £25 as 4 wheels and tyres are usually £120 a set, £50 for a sump plus whatever other twiddly bits you need.

Then £25/40/xbox for scrap after. Could even start fucking about with upgrading the interior, keeping spare bulbs/headlights etc.

I'd try to chip the henley bloke down if he A replied and B it was a veccy C, but infront of his face, not by text/email.

Posted

But again, all the parts you could ever need!

From what's happened already you have more people your way to drag it home I think, then just phone your friend of a friend again for the remains!

Just spotted this one too

https://www.gumtree.com/p/vauxhall/vauxhall-vectra-1.8-for-sale-1st-to-collect-gets-it/1141758522

I don't know if it would gone yet though or even where it is!

Says above the picture

i don't have anyone up here who can help, the chaps who towed it back when it went over the wall was fbp7,chaseracer and jikovron! same as I ideally need it off the road but no storage! the one closer to you would be the best bet. if I got in touch with friends friend again I doubt there would be much left after it had been dragged and craned!

Posted

I'll stick at it then. Arthur Foxhake is going to ask his yard owning mate if he has anything as well I think.

Still no text received though, maybe he is still in bed?

Posted

ive text things before and had no reply mate. he could be balls deep, who knows!

Posted

That will aost certainly be a B. Their wheels are all 5 stud except for some prefacelift models with 14 inch steels. The car in question will jave steels being an LS but will be too small at 15 inch. Other Bs did come with alloys at 205/55/16. THe word CANBUS keeps shouting at me here, if thats what the C has then nothing is compatible.
