That whole "it's too far away" thing seems so weird. It's like cars are sculptures that need massive logistics to move.

*looks in garage*

Oh. Nevermind.

It can be a time thing more than anything else.  I dont mind 600 miles round trip if I've got nothing else on and have the time to spend, but if there's something similar I can pick up on the way home from work on a weeknight, that's sometimes preferable.

Time and distance are relative.

Thats why most of the time, you're best off far away from your relatives.

Not much apart from that the Italians and the English can't make any.

Posted

Umm, the Italians can do a reasonable job. I did say reasonable.

Posted

Yeah, they also can do a reasonable job at building cars. I did say can. Why they don't do it most of the time is beyond me.

Thanks Teutates the Brits can make better cars than sausages.

I like smeerwurst but have a lingering suspicion that it might be Dutch in origin. Not sure though.  JMan?

Alfas are wonderful.

Advertise it (fully) on here and maybe run a raffle?

Raffles are getting boring. For a vehicle as desirable as this, I think we'd need a fight club gladiatorial last man/woman/we're-not-sure-and-too-polite-to-ask standing, weapons chosen from your workshop or local Mace store (they also have nunchucks, not just maces. And those sort of spinny stars of death that you throw. Whatever those are called. Knife-birds or something). £50 non-refundable entry fee, collected at the door; I'll be manning the other door with the appropriate vehicle.

has someone been sniffing the tippex again? (Count me in as long as duplex chain is allowed)

Hammer.

I'm free Wednesday.

MC or Mike?

Tippex? Pah. My Selectric has correcting tape. I'm not a peasant.

There are no rules in Autoshite Club. Except 1. Don't talk about Autoshite Club. Oh, and 2. No Vauxhall parts allowed, this is an impact-based sport, not flammable.

Right, before you do ANYTHING if it's up for sale in "the next few weeks" then please let me know.

Hopefully, in "the next few weeks" I'll know if my company car is going back and if so, I'll need something less SAABy and more MPGy to do the daily grind. And I really like the idea of an Alfa.

I hate selling cars! As has been said, too many fuckwits. I had one a few years ago when I sold my dolly sprint. Spent 3 hours nit picking. It was far from perfect which was how I described it,but had loads of jigsaw racing tuning parts and a modified head so was a bit of a weapon. He left a £50 deposit never to be seen again. When I advertised it again,a bloke turned up,spent all of 10 mins looking at it and offered £50 less than the asking price. Took it there and then,if only they were all like that.

Once I've been over to consult with my newly appointed car sales executive (assuming he's not a murderer) I will be in a position to publish nice, quality photos and will post a thorough, accurate description of the aforementioned vehicle on here. It will be offered for a limited time with a shiter's discount before I face the open market and have to deal with the general public and their offspring.

I think you should do a race, everyone pays £50 for your address and the first person to get to your house can have it.

We wanted (and intended) to do a good job but we gave them over-ripe bananas when all people ever wanted was a Richmond banger.

This wouldn't in any way be inflenced by the fact you live round the corner would it? I can see your cunning plan Mr Pillock.

Yes, and also you pm'ed me your address for that Windows DVD that I've still not collected (sorry!). So I can just sit outside your gaff until you announce the race is on.

Erm, I mean "No, why?".

I'd use ebay as I always do, but no reserve as that costs, just put the starting price at or around your minimum price that you'd take, that way you are safe and if it doesn't make, then it doesn't make, you'll have to think again.. You're always going to get the wankers who will immediately offer you half this initial figure irrespective of what it is - that's life.

From a 156 point of view - I personally had no bother at all selling my V6 about two years back using this method. I don't think they are as undesirable as people say, I found when I was both buying and selling mine, there seemed to be a lot of interest in them but only good examples - people (incl. me) were quite particular and the more iffy ones weren't moving.

Took this for an MOT the other day and it failed on a rear tyre which for me was as good as a pass as I knew it needed replacing. I will be putting it on eBay at the weekend. Richardk took some photos for me so as soon as they arrive I will put them on here with a write up first to see if any shiter's are interested.

I had a non iffy V6 156 and I couldn't shift it for love nor money.  I eventually pretty much gave it away to Six Cylinder of this parish.

Photos weren't up to the standards I hoped - weather was foul and I didn't realise how much I was shaking! But, this car looks good, solid, very respectable. A bit of detailing and it wouldn't look out of place in a company car park full of new machinery. More importantly, the engine bay is clean, the coolant healthy, the dashboard gadgets all work, interior really good for the mileage (and indeed, outright, it's cleaner than my E-class and in much better shape than the lower-mileage cars I have here), and the engine sounded in rude health. If i had the money, etc... but really, it's well worth it. Always forget just how good looking these are inside & out.

I do not know why I did not buy yours.  There must have been a reason, but I cant fathom what it might have been.  I bet it was cheap too.

All the regrets naow.
