Buy them both.  Immediately.  AFAIK we have a grand total of ONE Dacia on this forum.  If you buy these you will have two-thirds of the Dacia population!

Hmm... Hijakk

I was thinking about Logan MCV 1.2, when older/cheaper + Clio 172 power slotted in.

Quick wardrobe delivery, you reckon??

RMX is your man with the Dacia. Haven't heard from him for a while but might be worth sending him a message for advice

I was quite surprised how the Sandero seems to be holding up second hand value wise - even for the Access.

I ended up buying a Nissan instead.

Aye ^ I was half hoping I'd be running round in a 3 year old Sandero with one previous careless owner by now.

A sandero or duster is high on my shite radar when they hit £650-700.

Would!

Mrs fp's old man has had a year old duster for about a month now and he loves it, he's not a confident driver at all and won't drive distances, since having it he's been driving whenever he can, he's drove to Devon in it this week and apparently according to mrs fp's mum he was much more confident behind the wheel of it

Yep, when i do replace the 75 in many years its a Duster for me.

The new Dacias do seem to really hold their value pretty well. I'm sort of thinking about spending proper money on a newish daily and a twelve month old Sandero / Stepway does look quite tempting (if a bit slower than I really want).

900 quid for an MoTd one is about right. R12 / Dacia 1300 prices are on the rise, fuelled by nostalgic Romanians. Estimate £1000-1500 for something decent with a test. Less if you buy in Romania, but not much. A fully restored one is about £2500; some people will ask a lot more, and very early models make strong money. Sheds and later 1310 models are still very cheap.

Was the '73 version UK registered?

The '73 Dacia is just a CKD R12 assembled in Romania AFAIK, the licence contract was on until 1978. After that, all the parts were made in Romania, but '73 should be a complete R12., with Jaeger dashboard (it should be written on the speedometer), foot pump windscreen washer and handbrake under the steering colum (not between the front seats).

Make that 2, but I'm not sure mine counts: it's in Romania.

Did early R12s have a column handbrake?

I don't remember that and my old man drove a 72 from when I was 3 until it fell apart as I was approaching teenage.

I'm not saying they didn't. I'm just doubting my memory.
