Looking forward to reading more about this wonderful car once you get it home :)

Just caught up with this- living the dream! what a superb car. Been a great read, and frustrating that it was a fail to proceed for a niggly non citroen engineering related failure.

What a shame, sterling effort though! Cracking car, looking forward to seeing more when you get it back home to work on.

Alternator refurb company found less than 1 mile from my house..

http://www.esalternators.co.uk/index.asp

Potential win rating 11/10

It can be DIYed, google JCR supplies.

A valiant effort nonetheless, and one that shall go down in the Autoshite anals of history. And no, that's not a misprint...

What have you done to me, there is so much CX love on here I want my other CX back on the road as well!

Non starter, diagnosed as no power to the coil but not sorted.

After continuous trying it spat back unburn fuel and caught fire! The damage was minor, mainly HT leads which I have replaced. Trouble is I shut the bonnet to contain the fire while I got an extinguisher and then couldn't reopen it so I had to crowbar it open damaging the bonnet and grill. I have a good replacement bonnet ready to fit.

I want it back and I want it NOW!

City of tiny lights.

Shame the alternator packed up but it does sound as though the rest of the car seems pretty good. Well bought there sir!

Its a heap up top, but interior and floor pan plus mechanicals are all in decent order, so its bolt on stuff really

"A spaceman came travelling on his ship from afar,

'Twas light years of time since his mission did start,

And over a village he halted his craft"

Smooth landing at the parents.

The big question on my mind is how many CXs do we have between us?

Hands up anybody who has got one please.

Mine counts as 1.5 especially with the 4 spare doors

That rules me out. Amazing cars, the lwb ones have a ride which is splutteringly good, especially when the correct spheres are fitted, which are getting hard to find. New ones can be improved no end with a bit of work.

My mate messaged me last night after seeing your collection antics on Briskoda, asking if it was you! Think he was looking forward to coming to oxford servs with me and having a gander.

Never mind. Is it fixed yet?

The first CX I drove was a prestige (s2). Blue metallic with beige leather, carpets and plastic. I felt like Huggy Bear.

It was very impressive but terrifying - it was also my first auto and I did an emergency stop by mistake. Boy did it stop quickly.

The guy wanted £4K for it in the late 1990s but it wasn't me really. I bought a manual s1 pallas soon after, followed by a s2 DTR Turbo.
