So day was ended early for me with split coolant hose. Even though I attempted top bodging it wouldnt stop leak.

Managed to limp to Kirkcaldy halfords. Took 6 litres to get here. KFC then will attempt number 2 with hose tape.

Gold volvo must have been faster than silver volvo, everyone knows gold is a racing colour.  I imagine the AX was a little bit slower than that Subaru.

Thought set up there was ace.

Discussed with mate about buying cheap car to sit up here to take along to crail. Would mean that the issue of today trying to nurse a car home would go away.

Updates are great.  Don't those Volvo estates look graceful heaving their not inconsiderable bulk down the runway?

Good day lads, I'll get some photos up but it'll be tomorrow, dinner then pub quiz tonight.

Posted

Excited to see what times people got, and videos and pictures and everything.

Most important of all, I want to know which veg chariot was the fastest and which was slowest.

Posted

320touring's was fastest and I think Chompy's was slowest. Joe's wasn't running properly so he didn't race it.

I also took a few photos...

I'm actually staying in Crail tonight* & saw Chompy Snake and explosive cabbage on their way home in the gloom - is the Xantia's exhaust fucked?

*(being on holiday with Mrs M'coli and that, we went to see the Kelpies today) and we're in her modern wee Kia (which I was banned from running) - and we also went to Glen Devon via Yetts O'Muckart as a nostalgia trip for me.  You all look as if you had a great day - next time, I'll try to be here!

Xantia's exhaust is a straight through 3inch pipe.  It's not fucked, it's just gargly-loud.

Posted

There was some talk of fucked exhausts as we were leaving.

My best run was 2.502s for 60 foot, 10.782s at 65.8mph for 1/8 mile and 16.893s at 82.6mph for the 1/4 mile. I did do the run in my pants to save weight though.

whit a fuckin brilliant day:)

thanks to one and all for coming!

Best of the day for me was my first run

16.677 @82.4mph

The octy only did 17 runs today, think most everyone had a shot.

Richard resorted to taking his boots off to try and beat me..

Home safe and sound, the boring did 750 miles in the last 2 days, a few runs down the strip and never missed a beat ... Now I need to sort out that wheelspin issue.

My best time was a not very good 17.9 sec, I did that time  3 or 4 times. I also managed not to beat anyone at all.

Great fun, and good weekend, it's a shame I had to leave early. Myself and the boring shall return and do better next time ;)

Better tyres? are you saying King Meiler winter re-moulds are not the best for drag racing?

Never mind the chap in the BMW sleeping, I thought the chap in the AX had shuffled off this mortal coil until the nurse prodded him into action.
