Christ. I wish I had the money for that, it'd be an ideal fallback/winter hack.

Please do. I'm getting a sense of de ja vu here...

Money sorted, collection probably sorted, just waiting for a "Yeay" in the PM box now. Cream leather and automatic is pretty much my natural habitat.

This is excellent news, as you just moved it very close to me.

I'd have been interested but as I can bearly move due to a fucked back again I'd never have made it up to Newcastle in a state to be able to drive it back.

They do get under your skin as they are a nice place to be, you will want a V6 after a while though.

That's gotta be some sort of record for shortest owned car surely.

Not even close.

Think the AX was 1 day. Maybe 2.

I've replied to RichardK.  Theres others interested, but he was first with the PM.

Exchange relay arrived today.  The owners club forum really is a great place and very helpful.  Ten stars reccomend.

It wouldnt start this morn on the old relay but it does now on the new.  Suppose a real test will be a hot start on a hot day.

Had a look at the old one, and it doesnt look THAT bad really.

Camera phone wouldnt focus at this distance, but it didnt look too bad to me.

Think Mr K is attending for this fine beast on Sat.

Yep - travelling in style, too, with the 21st Century answer to the Talbot Tagora. Accord will get work done ready to take over from the SLK for winter in the main plan, but I suspect it's actually going to get a timing belt kit sorted and whatever's going on with the Lambda and then just get used anyway, pushing the "explore whatever is up with the E320 gearbox" ever further back!

Took the Mercedes out to thrash and see what the gearbox did and it behaved fine, only untoward thing was the towbar electrics bouncing along behind as I forgot I was in the middle of swapping plates & going to 13-pin connection. I R SMRT.

One thing the Honda is making me do - I'm never going to get around to fixing the A-class, so that'll be up for spares/repair. Stupid to let it go for just an ABS ring, but of course, it's an ABS ring and knackered tyres and odd noises from the heater flaps and dead battery and rusty bonnet and noisy serpentine belt and so on and so forth. Wish I could pinch the roof and fit it to the estate.

TG took roof off & made a fabric jobbie, wasn't it??

I thought that was an Espace? The A160 has the slatted lamella roof and it's in perfect working order (apparently unusual) - the E's got a Golde glass aftermarket job which looks pretty good. But it's not as clever.

Aside from cars with optional roofs, I reckon the best sunroof here at the moment is Keith's Twingo, which has a glass setup rather like a cut-price Avantime.

That is one fucking ace car. 1 - 48 please.

49 please

Can you imagine...

Did Stu from the owners club send the relay to you, he's a good guy and know the coupes like the back of his hand.

If it needs a new battery at some point then go to the cox's honda website and you can get a honda battery cheaper than an aftermarket job, they have quite a few decent deals on the website helpful if you give them a bell as well.

I'm quite happy to supply a battery at a proper Trade price if needs be.

Posted

I've got a Halfords trade card, but Cox's price is better than I'd get even with that - £59. Not bad at all. Discs & pads aren't too horrific either, but reckon I'll see what's needed on the exhaust front first 'cause battery & brake parts > cost of the car. Not that I mind if that's what it needs, this is the first Honda I'll have had that wasn't a complete wreck (Aerodeck, the proper one) or miserably small & gutless (Jazz).

Once you've had Honda, its hard to go back.

'wheels need a refurb' is standard practice on an Accord Coupé. They always, always corrode.

But will I want a V6?

If it's as easy to work on as a Mercedes I'll be a happy bunny. I know the build quality is supposed to be good, and IIRC they still use double wishbones up front, or did the Accord move to wobblestruts by this point?

Posted

Still double wish bones, they handle OK but you get a bit of roll because it's yank designed.

Fuck loads of space under the bonnet even on a V6, though it's tight round the main beams.

Yes you will want a V6, the 6 cylinder suits the car better than the 4 pot, some of the guys in the owners club say they get over 30MPG, my coupe gets nowhere near that even on a run.

Can't really comment on what they are like to work on as mine hasn't gone wrong in the 2 years I've owned it.

Is that it? were is the hand over shots, the pulling away shots and the turning the first corner shots?

Posted

I think the new owner of will be posting a thread featuring handover shots etc.

Posted

From what I've seen on Facebook things haven't gone 100% to plan.

Posted

Oh shit. Hope all is ok as can be re: getting back home, etc.
