"The Wonderful lamp" was one of Osram's catch phrases, in the same way Mazda had "Mazda lamps stay brighter longer"  :)

Looks like a German plate to me, and the BN suffix would be from Bonn.

Fairly sure there was a ferry service between Hamburg and North Shields.

I remember driving past the factory on the Team Valley when I was young. There is a Greggs on the site now - a sign of the times!
