How quick do you need it? I have an office in Boston and go over a few times per year. If it can wait a month or so I can probably help you out.

This is a funny old thing. I got hold of a new ignition barrel from United Spares of America in Norfolk. No problem, fits fine and works happily but it does need a fiddle when turning the car off. Obviously no idea why the main ignition was worked so a separate switch was fitted but there is clearly an issue that needs further looking into at some point in the future. Anyway it now starts and stops.

The transmission works an awful lot better when the red stuff is added, so all working there for now. I will invest in a filter and gasket when able then the trolley jack and axle stands will accompany me to the barn.

I used the lock picks to try and get the broken key remnant out of the boot lock. No joy whatsoever.

I then lubed the door hinges and door lock. I put the key in and went to turn it and SNAP! WTF? Luckily the lock pick hooked it out easily. Are thse keys made out of stale sliced Edam? They may as well be for all the fecking use they are. I have never known anything like it.

This bloody car is fighting me all the way.

Oh, the now alternator is rumbling and grumbling. That can FRO for the time being too.

When it is all working it does drive rather nicely tbh :)

Damn it!

Any folk fancy a bit of Yank fettling?

I'm trying to work out the best way to drill out the knackered boot lock or how to access it via the rear seat thingy. Getting it up onto axle stands so that I can counts transmission sump bolts and see where it is leaking from would be an extra bonus.

Anyone fancy helping? Car located near Chelmsford :)

Good pub nearby too :)

Anyone fancy helping?

It's nothing major, just a bit of exploration and so on, maybe some drilling.

It would be a huge boost to my Yank car confidence to make some progress other than cleaning the interior :)

The fish and chips at the pub is absolutely ace.

I'd love to, it's a shame you're so far away.  It's hardly a daytrip... (and I love fish and chips!)

I can probably get up in a month or so mate, and I'll bring my classic yank fingers but no chance this weekend, Wales are scheduled to beat S Africa at the rugby tomorrow you see, and I'm required by law to get drunk immediately afterwards

Complete change of circumstances.

This is now up for sale with no U turn by me, shock, horror.

First shitter with a hundred quid and a trailer can have it.

Needs to be collected soon'ish though. I have full GM workshop manual and a proper owners handbook to go with it and it has a brand new ignition barrel.

I do think a full ad about the car would be good - amend the first post in this thread perhaps? It's not very clear what's for sale unless you trawl through the pages.

I think it's a broken American car. Possibly the one with the plastic rear rod thing that's broken.

Deffo American.

Hth.

Ok guys, I have amended the first page of this thread :)

Apologies for silly question but not read the whole thread....

I haven't actually got a beard.... The distinct possibility of having no genitals now looms once Mrs B finds out.

No beard, no genitals.

No bearded genitals. This could only go well.
