3mins late so far...

pre-emptive strike:-

you are collecting a Tahiti blue MGF with mismatched alloys, a split drivers seat bolster and an expansion tank half full of K-seal

Bollocks just missed a bubble shape rover 400 for sal3 at the road side. Looked tidy if utterly dull.

Great apparently this bus Is an hour and 3 mins late as some comfortable shie wearing misery has just informed the bus driver.

"There's been a bad accident..."

"That isn't going to help me getting to work an hour late and nobody is answering the phone."

Well nor is delaying the bus driver further by rowing with him you wasp faced little harpy...

Stop 1, Lincoln station and half an hour until the train arrives.

Also I realise I've left my lunch at work. Bugger.

Also: toot toot.

I presume that this means the line to Grimsby is clear now.

You're either getting all the bad luck out of the way pre-collection or this is a view of things to come.  Good luck!

Well I'm still sything through wastegrounds, townships and bizarre station architecture. Not long until the destination station now, which is good as I could do with stretching my third leg.

There are some lovely pockets of coutryside here permanently scarred by the greys of railway line and vast arrays of industrious development. All passes in a blurr as we clatter onward, beltching diesel fumes and clag into the afternoon skies.

As I'm a philistine this may be a parody of a real Betjemen poem ,and it's gone over my head.

But if it's not ,it should be.

Yup!

WHEN melancholy Autumn comes to Wembley
And electric trains are lighted after tea
The poplars near the Stadium are trembly
With their tap and tap and whispering to me,
Like the sound of little breakers
Spreading out along the surf-line
When the estuary’s filling
With the sea.

Then Harrow-on-the-Hill’s a rocky island
And Harrow churchyard full of sailors’ graves
And the constant click and kissing of the trolley buses hissing
Is the level to the Wealdstone turned to waves
And the rumble of the railway
Is the thunder of the rollers
As they gather up for plunging
Into caves.

There’s a storm cloud to the westward over Kenton,
There’s a line of harbour lights at Perivale,
Is it rounding rough Pentire in a flood of sunset fire
The little fleet of trawlers under sail?
Can those boats be only roof tops
As they stream along the skyline
In a race for port and Padstow
With the gale?

Hi, is the car you're buying powered by a sail nailed on the roof then? Or by some other non-dinosaur means? ;-)

Wynstan Auden gets in on the act -

Nightmare

This is the Volvo crossing the border

Bought on eBay by postal order

The mixture is rich, the driver is poor

Mould on the headlining, rust in the floor

I sir, am as much of a philistine as you, for if I have inadvertently parodied anyone's poem, it is purely my subconscious leaking it out.

Well now, I am home now, the car is probably 80% as good as I'd hoped it was, I have noted another scrape on the boot lid as well as a noisy strut top bearing on the way home.

Obligatory:

Nothing further yet as my phone died on the way home...

So having just bought this one, there is absolutely NO WAY that I have dispatched a family member with instructions to offer an insulting amount for the rough moonstone blue one I viewed a few weeks back.

I mean even if I did figure it's mot had run out now, they wouldn't take a couple of ton for it would they?

Keep watching this space...

So after it's winter lay up, this one is now with a fresh mot and 6 months tax, which is the ideal time for it to shit out it's heater matrix.

If you can't find one close to home, PM our Will (Explosive-Cabbage), he may have one on the shelf.

Going straight to 'reply' on this thread, I hope the last post or two contains a raffle.

I really like these cars. Esp the phase 1. I had one for a little while, was quite fucked, but really liked it. Might have a look for another. Would like to fit a DW10 just to annoy people :)

I'll be fitting a brand new matrix, there is no way I'm going to wrestle with the fucking thing for a day to put a used one in!

No raffles as yet, the dent man has quoted me £100 to straighten her out, and once I've had a bit more summer fun, it'll be up for sale proper.

Anyone want a crack at this for 800? It will need the heater matrix doing but if anyone fancies a go for 800 quid before I get around to it, the queue starts here...

This side of the Atlantic, probably.  I'm struggling to think of a better one.

Not a bad call, but I think having only two seats is cheating a bit...
