Storage for my cars please...

Recommended Posts

Looking for some storage for my 4 x Rover Sterlings + parts/wheels etc...

I've got 3 weeks before they need to be moved. The earlier the better please. I'm located in the Midlands so anywhere around there would be preferable. Also preferably long term no less than 6 months.

Thanks,

Are you going to get them on the road? 4 Sterlings sounds like a lot of Sterlings, I've been dragging an Astra round from garage to garage since 2004 and feel like it's a ball and chain sometimes.

That's supposed to be the idea, buy a bit of time whilst sorting new life out. But it seems harder and harder these days. Space is a premium and very difficult to come by. I know that if I get rid I'll never be able to replace them.

To be honest, even if I didn't have these cars my life would still be just as hard. Looks like now I'm facing having to bale them. All this because I can't seem to find ongoing work. I'm sure my name is blacklisted somewhere. :|

Just type your postcode and "farm" into google, and get the list of farms close to where you are.

Give them a ring and talk to someone, explain your situation and ask if they have part of a barn empty and if they'd rent you the space. 8 to 9pm is a good time to call rural folk. Expect to pay £50 - £100 per month. For every one who says no, ask them if they might know anyone who could help, and get their number. Farmers don't have time to list vacant space online and so on. Word of mouth is still king, and bargains are had by talking to people who know stuff.

Mate of mine has just taken on 1/2 the rental of a large workshop Near Blackpool. Do you want me to ask him if he can store a couple at a reasonable price, or is Poulton Le Fylde too far?

^ No.  If necessary, the AS Midlands Massiv will organise van/trailer/muscle for Brother Mo.

That would be great man, cheers!

Sorry I can't provide storage in times of need but if I can offer assistance in any way shape or form please don't hesitate to ask

I can take one if needs be for a few weeks. I've an empty garage in Wakefield. Bad points are it's a bit crap and £25 a month, good points it's about 200 yards from my house and in a nice* place

I was hoping I might be able to help store one of them by offering a corner of Big Shed, but the timing doesn't work well for you (September) and it's not quite as big as I'd hoped.  If I can squeeze cars in three-abreast I'll let you know, but better not count on it.  Sorry.

Anyone friendly enough with Sam Glover to enquire about a corner of his hanger in Wiltshire?  I fear he may get lots of requests like this though.

I shall ask. Tomorrow.

Hi Mo. Sorry to read about your storage problems. Have you looked at Retro Rides on there Garage Communities page?  Not sure if your signed up over there but could be worth a look/ ask.

All the best with finding somewhere.

I'm going to have to raffle my Cav on here as I originally mentioned on AS a while ago. Was trying to hold on to it but due to the same reason and also a lack of intrest in finding someone to do the welding on it I'm going to have to admit defeat. :-(

LS what are you doing on Saturday? We could go round a few farms in the Romsley area and see if they have any empty out buildings for rent.

I can store a car in my garage if that helps. Miles away and will need a cover on it as the roof leaks a bit, but offer is there

Dan, that might very, very useful should I not come up trumps. I know you live literally a stones throw from where my cars currently are so I'm guessing your friend won't be too far. I can sort out some car covers but what I need is private land/barn preferably around that area so cars don't need to travel too far.

Thanks Moogs, will keep you in mind.

Dan, could you enquire about this please, I'm very interested. So far I've managed to find somwhere near Chez_Mo but stumping up cash will see me in a bit if debt, that said, it'll be near enough for me to go and fettle.

Spoke to my mate today of whom has a truck which will take 2 cars. He can move all 4 cars up to Bewdley from Worcester for £150.

Dan, did you find out from your mate with the place in Cradley?
