Numbers on the mileometers of Australian produced cars rotate in the opposite direction.

For the same reason, the BL badge turns anti-clockwise in the antipodes.

Diesels are way cleaner than those polluting petrol burners.

Never noticed that before, well spotted!

No. That's the driver's side badge.

The passenger side one turns the other way. It's like one-way-only tyres; the badge always rotates forwards.

And in the upmarket Leylands, like the V8 Targa Florio, the Leyland badge actually does rotate, like an artillery officer's cap badge.

Peugeots never ever rust because they used galvanised metal of the highest quality and thickness.

Have I accidently made up a truth?

The Leyland badge was the strongest part of the shell so was also used as a jacking point

Andrew Issigonis, designer of the Mini, only made it front wheel drive because of a failure to order any propshafts. Legend has it that on his original bill of materials produced for the factories to create orders, the word "propshaft" was mistaken for "profiterole" and so the first 50,000 cars produced had a choux pastry treat in the boot, passed off at the time as a special gift for the lucky new owners.

Bentley's next car will be based on the Citgo/Up/Mii, but will be vulgarised with fold down Onyx tables for rear seat brats, and fitted with a huge chromed chicken wire grille, and more fairylights than a council estate at Christmas, and start at 'just' £95,000 for the basic 1.0 3 cylinder version

YUGO FACTOIDS:

1. The newer a Yugo is the better it is.

2. Plans were afoot to make a world war one commemorative Yugo called The Archduke Ferdinand in 2014. If the company was still there, and no one was offended.

3. The rear window on a Yugo is embedded with a number of thin wires. These are for keeping your hands warm when you are pushing.

4. #1 means a 1992 DL is the best Yugo.

VW plan to bring back the Yugo name for their budget brand, to compete with Dacia. The fact that the country from which the name is derived no longer exists is irrelevant apparently.

Similarly BMW own the Moskvitch name (true) and are going to introduce a similar new budget car very soon.

VAG have acquired the rights to the name of 'Armstrong Siddeley' They are planning to use it for a new model positioned midway between Audi and Bentley.

BMW's legendary 50:50 weight distribution began being designed into their cars when a test driver once left the decomposing body of a dutch hitchhiker in the boot of a prototype E21 and noticed that he could lap legendary German racetrack Imola 3 seconds faster.

Contrary to popular belief the nurburgring is in fact the Basingstoke ring road but had its name changed to sound more exotic and piss off ukip toadies.

The Austin Maxi was originally designed as a 2 door sports coupe, but someone at BL realised they had loads of spare landcrab doors left over, and several members of the design team were into dogging, so turned it into a practical hatchback, with seats that made into a basic double bed

The 110 Land Rover was so called because it is 110% bigger than the 90.

It's common knowledge that Volvo created early model numbers with series : number of cylinders : number of doors, thus giving the 345 and 144 etc.

Peugeot followed a similar route for years, with the first number representing the position in the model sequence and the final number was the position on the ugliness scale, thus giving models such as the 204 and the 308. The centre number has always represented the chance of trouble-free motoring.
