Wedding car suggestions?

any French car made before the 1980s can cope with a farm track

305 van? Or is a DS decap more what you're after? Soft spheres and 82-profile tyres would be good for a rutted track, you could rattle up it at 60! And put the car in high to ease entry and exit, as it were. Or if the track's so bad only a Range Rover would manage it.

An 2 door RR would be lovely, though. Complete with vertical grill and steelies. Perfect - I think you need more than 4 cylinders for added smoothness and sound effects at a wedding, But a 2cv can rise to any occasion and not look or sound out of place.

The irony of this post is delicious.

Most of the cars on here are guaranteed to start a divorce.

Down a steep farm track?  Shogun/Pajero obviously.

I used to lend mine out when pals/staff were getting married.  (That's not me BTW).

Where are you?

I don’t know if my classic insurance allows me to do an odd wedding but I will ask if you like the car.

Matching cars so you can leave separately if you fall out with each other.

I think insurance stands with no issue if you're doing it "as a favour" for fuel cost only.... If it's your regular business there's an issue though.  But a White DS is perfect I reckon.

That looks lovely. Leicester and getting married in Northampton.

My other plan is to buy a Jag S type as they seem quite cheap at £1500 ish, use it for the wedding, smoke about in it for a bit then sell on...

What about an Austin Sheerline? Hefty separate chassis and big wheels should handle a farm track and they look quite handsome in a formal saloon sort of way. Humber Pullman should achieve the same effect as well.

If you'd said minicab I'd have loaned you the Carisma.

I live near Buckingham, Northampton is not that far what is the plan for the wedding car? Do you have a date?

It's not till next Aug, just planning ahead! I showed the future Mrs Stripped and she wasn't as bowled over as I am. She doesn't appreciate fine automobiles. She's agreed though that I get to choose the wedding car and she can choose everything else so I may still be in. Perhaps call you nearer the time. Looks like a well kept example and I am quite envious!

I think for that day you both need to want the car are you will never here the last of it.

It is clean and tidy and this August I plan to take it to France for the 3rd time.

My only other white saloon is this BMW 3.0S.

She doesn't really have any strong opinions tbh and is happy to leave it up to me. More bothered about womanly things like the dress.

A couple of years ago a car mad friend got married and used his Renault Caravell driven by his son to leave the church and go to the reception. The Caravell was originally owned by his mother when he was a teenager and sold, but he tracked it down and bought it back.

that is a lovely looking car, really quite jealous of that one.

Hate to say this, but a VW Kombi would be decent for a farm track wedding. Plus, massive doors make it easy for train lady to effect egress.

I've got a black Vectra CDTi, if you want to go in style.

I have been asked to find a wedding car for a friend getting married in December.

As she is marrying a Frenchman this would be perfect......

Don't rush as it has a bad misfire at the moment and a friend from the BMW club has it to try and sort it.
