I hearted my banana transits. Ace to drive, much fun.

Have you turned the pump up and blanked the EGR yet? Bananas could probably do with declagging inside

One of these is the ultimate shitters weapon as it means no matter how horrible and unroadworthy your potential purchase is you can still go and get it home.

As long as it weighs less than 1.5 ton ;)

In fact with a little planning while it's loaded up you could have the cats, wheels and battery off and take your purchase straight to the bridge saving time and disappointment.

Recently I saw a compressor for sale on facebook for £100, it was 3 phase and 200l in size. I thought it was worth a go at that price so went along to Kirkcaldy in the ranger to collect it. I got talking to the guy who was selling it after I spotted an NSU RO80 sitting in the corner, I mentioned that I had a Lada and he told me his garage used to be a Lada dealership...

Anyway, the compressor was big and old and the cable had been chopped when they replaced it for a new compressor. I took it back to my place and it dawned on me that I might have some issues with it.

We only have one 3 phase power source. Our tyre machine's turntable is also 3 phase so I couldn't have the tyre machine and compressor plugged in at the same time... Or could I?

I made a 3 phase splitter and didn't manage to electrocute myself. Result!

The new compressor is incredibly quiet and everything works as it should. I'm looking forward to painting with it.

Had a go at painting with the new compressor. It's pretty good. 7c0b1202836a4387dc4db7a782e7dc67.jpg

I had a mildly productive day...

It started with this.

And ended with this.

And some of this stuff happened in the middle.

It was a right bastard of a job trying to get a car with no struts onto the ramp, I rammed it with the truck than pulled it suspended by the engine crane.

I eventually got it on, lifted it up and reversed the truck underneath and winched the car on.

A guy I know came down and took everything he could fit inside his 207 which included the 4 doors, boot, rear bumper, rear seats, lights. he tied the front bumper to the roof.

It'll be weighed in tomorrow.

You don't remember when Junction Road was a Lada dealer? The now Kawasaki dealership in St Clair St were Lada dealers too, and AF Motors in Thornton, then Woodside were Skoda- I remember walking up and drooling over a Rapid Sport there.. FSO were next to Kwik-Fit in Leven.

The guy said he was a Lada dealer up where the Kawasaki dealership is before he moved premises. He changed over to Seat after Lada.

Another change of mind on the fate of he 306, I see...
Were there too many knob jockeys wanting such a cool* car for next to nowt?

Hopefully the lump is heading 305-wards after all. :D

I just couldn't really be bothered taking the engine out, it would have been easier to sell the car and forget about 305 engine swaps but having had a couple of no shows for the car during the week and a nice sunny day yesterday I thought I'd give it a bash. I wasn't asking very much for the car anyway.

Tonight's jobs, fitting a new stop solenoid on the pump. I used a grinder to cut through the armor then used a multi meter to check which wire was getting voltage with the ignition on and connected it to the new solenoid. 9c531a50c7d023603ac150a135ca509f.jpg

Ah... you also have the blue ZX td :)

I found that two of those four wires seem to have 12v to hold open the stopper, but only one actually works. On those immobilized ones, one wire showing "12v" actually only pulses, and doesn't hold it open enough. So if one won't, try the other.

Yes, it's the ZX. It died last week while out driving. I tried restarting it at the side of the road and nothing, not even a hint of it starting. I towed it along to my unit and tried again and it started fine and had run fine ever since. I had a look online and found an old thread on here about stop solenoids where you were giving advice to someone about how to sort it.

I'm hoping that it was a faulty solenoid that was the cause of the FTP because if it was something else, I have replaced the solenoid for no apparent reason.

The solenoid on the 306 td engine has been wired up in a similar fashion. but it'll be a good while before I attempt to put it in the 305. There's still quite a bit to do on it to get it roadworthy and I really don't want to add an engine swap to the list of stuff required.

Also put the original wheels back on the ZX

The tyres on the rallye steels weren't great so I'll stick with black steels for now.

I was offered €25 for a running pug 307 diesel if I deliver and they want €75 to collect

It can sit there if nobody wants it

The front shocks on my 305 have pretty much been knackered since I bought it and have gradually gotten worse over the years, the top mounts were also battered and knocking on the left. I've had a pair of new shocks and top mounts sitting here for ages but have been putting it off out of laziness more than anything else.

The springs were fine so I didn't see the point in buying new ones.

Still a few more jobs to do before it goes back on the road but it's slowly getting there. It feels like a new car with the new shocks.
