Nice 924!

It's not mine, the photo was taken at a meet I went to recently.

A vote for the original colour here! It's quite a pleasant shade, especially when it isn't as flat as a witch's tit.

Reminds me a lot of the Chrysler Alpine RichieG saved, DFH 191T, very similar colour and quite period.

Boot spoiler was badly damaged so I binned it and welded up the holes before filling them.

Original color looks good I reckon.

Those headlight wipers on the turbo make me feel strangely aroused.

Good job this, looks all flatted down ready for colour. What colour are you going for?

Eventually managed to pick up this zx. It drives really well so I'll get it welded and in for an mot ASAP.

Got a couple of runs in the paint which will need sanding before applying the next coat. The paint looks better than it did with the white which is all I was really aiming for.

Some more pics of the zx

Drives incredibly, well looked after and one owner from new with original dealer plates and sticker if you're into that kinda thing. All for the grand sum of £120.

I had initially bought it as an engine donor but it's far too good to break up so I'm going to weld the sills and mot it.

I had the carb stripped, cleaned and rebuilt and new distributor cap, rotor arm and plugs fitted.

It appears to be running a lot better with no hesitation or stuttering so I'll be taking it out for a long Sunday drive around the lochs tomorrow.

Did that come out of a hedge in Chipping Campden?

I think I'm going to put this up for sale.

With all of my recent expenditure on car parts, paint and stuff I'm feeling like selling a couple of things to get some money back in the bank. As the Datsun is probably the most desirable car I have and probably the most valuable I'll sell that first.

Brilliant progress with the Renault, looking forward to the finished result.

ZX has some holes in the sill but I'll get it welded asap.

The 18 is looking good now the paint is starting to dry, it needs a couple of coats and the runs sanded but hopefully I'll get it finished soon.

Yesterday I set off for Aberfoyle in the Carlton to test how it was running after adjusting the fuel mixture and idle speed. It seemed like there were only two settings for the carb which were to either let the car idle under 1k and hesitate when blipping the throttle or have the car idle at 1.5k and be able to pull away more smoothly. I chose the former setting and set of for a 130 mile drive.

At higher speeds the car seemed ok but at low speeds pulling out of junctions the car would hesitate and want to stall. I got back home, frustrated with how the car was running and tried again to adjust the mixture and idle settings. Again I could only make it less hesitant by upping the idle so was getting a little bit pissed off with the thing until I remembered something about John K saying he had advanced the timing on the distributor.

I had a play about with the distributor then adjusted the mixture settings accordingly and now it's idling around 1k with very little hesitation.

The guy around the corner from me has a timing light so hopefully soon it'll be running even better.

The R18 will polish up nicely, if you're into that sort of thing...  :)

If you have a good depth of paint on you can wet flat it back and machine it up.
