Tomorrow I'm going to collect some tat from the epic Aberdeenshire scrapyard having travelled up in some of the worst fog I've ever driven in tonight.

Is there anything in the Aberdeenshire scrapyard that's even vaguely salvageable?

I got some Mk2 Cavalier recaros a while back for my Cortina. I was hoping to get another set yesterday but someone bought them last week apparently.

I didn't find what I was after but I did manage to buy a large drum to burn stuff in for a total cost of £3

I think the main plan is to keep the front seats and bin the rest. It cost me £125 all in to have it delivered which seems quite pricey for a pair of front seats but fuck it, someone might want the rest...

Looks a high spec model too, sure I can see front and rear electric windows. The roof looks like it could be salvaged though. But depends on rest.

OMG how awesome (and fucked) is that. Love the interior. Must be very early?

Would imagine if you could be arsed breaking it you'd make coin from it?

If the roof is that bad what's the floor going to be like?

(Still awsum tho).

Also changed the glow plugs on the c15

3 of them were oily looking.

I removed the ones from the white c15, I had read that it was difficult to change them because of having to remove the inlet manifold but it was relatively straight forward.

Are you north or south from where the car was? Lots of Mk1 specific bits would be worth stripping and keeping hold of (that dash looks mint!) And I am gonna be in Scotland at some point soon in a big van...

Jeez man its wven further away now!

Did you get it to run or just hoik it on to the truck? If you don't mind I'm gonna share one of these pics on the BX Facebook page - somebody might want to save it now it's not stuck in a muddy field, and if not there might be some folk willing to pay you for some bits...

I'm not sure it was stuck in a muddy field, the ebay pics were on a gravel driveway. It was winched onto the truck then I had to drag it off. I'll try getting some pics of the underside today.

Rear cross member, boot floor and the state of the rear wings are the key spots. I love the interior!

I can confirm the interior of the BX is fit.

IT MUST BE SAVED!!! apparently.

Considering the evidence up top, that doesn't look too shabby underneath.  Nice one, Scott  :)

Posted

Well, given there are just a handful of surviving Mk1 estates, it would be rather spiffing if it could be saved. Have you had a chance to inspect the boot floor?

Posted

That looks surprisingly not fucked underneath actually. How long would you theoretically hold onto it before it had to be moved on?

There's no immediate rush to get rid of it but sooner is always better.

It's crying out for a roller paint job and pickup conversion though...

Its always a good sign when the jack doesn't go up with the car staying down. As most of these seem to suffer underneath rather than on top perhaps some sort of roof transplant is called for.
