There must be only one or two manual Sigma V6 estates in the country. It should really go to a specialised enthusiast who doesn't have fourteen other cars diverting attention away from it.

On the other hand, I can see that ending up severely dubbed with a rusty bonnet and a Tesco trolley on the roof so please buy it and keep it safe from such people! :-D

If any specialised enthusiast wants to buy it from me for £1500 then that's fair enough, otherwise when I get it I'll be sure to chop the springs, fit a roof rack and roller paint it olive drab then I'll banger race it.

Marvellous. How rusty is it?

There's a nice tide mark along the bottom of the doors and sills and it's had some mismatched touch up paints on the arches, the fuel filler looked a bit crusty but other than that I didn't get a really good look at the underside. It seems to drive well enough, I took it for a quick razz down a rural back road and it seemed sprightly enough even if one of the rear brakes was seized slightly.

There's a droning coming from the rear end which is either a wheel bearing or the brake jamming on but other than that I couldn't find any other apparent issues.

Get that Sigma bought!

I'm not sure, I'm not enough of a specialised enthusiast to own such a rare car..

It's jelusy wot made me post that guv.

Also, t'was a bit of an in-joke, mainly stemming from the similar confusing real life conclusion my parents came to years ago when they looked at a slushbox example. I think they ended up getting a 12v 3.0 Carlton estate in CDX form so at least they were partially redeemed.

I'm still recovering from the make over on the ex-Cabbage Samara, it'll take me a while to get over the 305 sanctuary you're establishing and the Sigma wagon.

Think of yourself as a temporary custodian, saving it from imbeciles and nursing it back to health before selling it to one of us. Or maybe even a raffle...

I started work on the brakes yesterday.

I fitted new cylinders, the shoes I bought didn't have the same fixings and I couldn't seem to remove all of the parts from the old shoes to make the new shows fit so I just used the old shoes as there was still some life left in the pads.

When removing the 11mm brake line nut the pipe started to twist so I hack sawed it off and made some new pipes on either side. It was the first time I had tried making brake pipes and luckily my pal mike had a length of brake pipe and all of the tools and fittings for me to practice with. I put the bolts on then used the flaring tool to flare the ends, the first side I made fitted and bled up nicely, the next side I managed to flare the pipe slightly squint so I had to hack saw the end and try again.

With both sides fitted and bled I moved onto the front.

Trying to remove a snapped wheel stud took up a bit of time, after that I fitted some calipers that I got from Wilsonx2 with my last 309. I think the calipers fitted were from a 405 with vented discs so naturally I assumed that the wilsonx2 calipers were the same. Although similar in looks, the new calipers protrude more from the hub which mean the 14" wheels no longer fit.

I'm going to try and fix the original calipers so I can keep the 14" wheels.

The Lada is looking good on its original wheels!

It's been sold and paid for for over a month so I've been taking great pleasure in ragging it around because it looks like it's never actually going to be picked up!
