It's not mine, a friend brought over because he wanted a look at the Subaru. Split_Pin Posted October 10, 2021 Posted October 10, 2021 I need to get around to meeting up with Alan and his Applause, it looks an interesting motor.

garbaldy Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 You really do attract them don't you. I love this statement, first part well and truly wrong and then goes on to state the obvious, no shit Sherlock a Japanese company make engine for themselves 😂

DodgyBastard Posted October 17, 2021 Author Posted October 17, 2021 I'd noticed oil leaking at quite an alarming rate from around the distributor so checked the oil and discovered it was very high on the dipstick. I guessed it could be petrol mixing with the oil at the mechanical fuel pump so dropped the oil which smelled like petrol and removed the pump. I cleaned it all up and worked the pump a few times with my hand and could see the petrol dripping out where it's bolted onto the engine. I've ordered a new pump so hopefully it'll solve the issue. dome, Mrs6C, Joey spud and 5 others 8
DodgyBastard Posted October 20, 2021 Author Posted October 20, 2021 Ordered the wrong fuel pump for the Skoda, I was under the impression that it was a Skoda 130 engine so just ordered a replacement on eBay before I had a chance to look at what was fitted on the car and discovered the one I'd ordered only had two holes to bolt it on. Later I searched Google images to find the same one and it turns out that it's a favorit pump. I ordered one from a Czech site so hopefully be here at the end of the week. I refitted the old pump and changed the oil which seemed to help with the low oil pressure and oil pishing out of every seal. Obviously I'll have to change it again when the new pump arrives as well as changing the filters. The carb doesn't have any kind of filter/airbox on it so going to look into what fits or maybe modify something, I can't imagine it's good for it when it warms up and hot unfiltered air is going straight into the carb. In other news I've started working on the chevette again, I've refitted the original vinyl interior and painted the floors inside. Today I'm hoping to paint the wings and front end and refit the lights and mirrors and make it look more like a car again. I was reading through the fail list and there really isn't that much still to do. Dr_Slow, dozeydustman, timolloyd and 6 others 9
