loserone Posted November 23, 2019 Posted November 23, 2019 I still reckon dynamat instead of carpet would be a winner in this
DodgyBastard Posted November 23, 2019 Author Posted November 23, 2019 I may have found a suitable swap for the Bini.... jumpingjehovahs, Dirk Diggler, egg and 17 others 20
Spiny Norman Posted November 23, 2019 Posted November 23, 2019 That looks smart, I'd forgotten they did the saloon in 340 flavour. Is that the 1.7 Renault engine?

Is that the 1.7 Renault engine? It is the 1.7 Renault engine. I think it's pretty much poverty spec, has a grim looking grey interior, no rev counter etc. Mileage is around 30k but I think the speedometer and odometer has been out of action for a year so will actually be a bit higher. It's been for sale for a while with a salty asking price of £1500 but looking for swaps/PX. I've not had anything to swap for it until now. Jim Bell, Spiny Norman, egg and 7 others 10
DodgyBastard Posted November 23, 2019 Author Posted November 23, 2019 Wow, just been offered a swap for this lovely 216 Auto I owned a couple of years back. Not sure what to go for, a 340 with no mot or a Ronda with mot until August. Skizzer, egg, mrbenn and 1 other 4

DodgyBastard Posted November 24, 2019 Author Posted November 24, 2019 Today I went to the scrapyard to look for interior bits for the mini. DSC_0461 by srblythe, on Flickr mrbenn, egg, Ohdearme and 5 others 8

I didn't have a lot of time but there was plenty of minis to choose from, I got a couple of interior trim bits including a gear knob gaiter, mirror switch, door tweeter surround, A-pillar trims and a boot carpet. RJC_2555 by srblythe, on Flickr RJC_2556 by srblythe, on Flickr RJC_2558 by srblythe, on Flickr I'm going to go back for the headlining and carpet next week, the scrapyard think it'll be around £20 plus vat for it so it's worthwhile getting and fitting it. I've decided to hold onto the car for now and get it into a bit more of a usable condition before deciding what to do with it. It drives really well but I feel like a bit of a fanny when out in it. loserone Posted November 24, 2019 Posted November 24, 2019 I felt a bit like that in @Jim BellBell's last one. In fact it was so quick and unpleasant that I didn't like it until my ma had a feint / fall and I needed to do 7 miles quickly to help. Good job it was too early for the coppers to be awake, I got there a full 10 minutes before the paramedic who was closer.. I could see the point then, but they're still licence losing fast and very silly looking. paulplom and Jim Bell 2
garbaldy Posted November 24, 2019 Posted November 24, 2019 If it doesn't sell or swap on retro roads paint it camo green then nobody will see you driving it. I didn't recognise you in time or I would have waved as you drove past on Friday, could have pitted for a brew too.

True i suppose. If I had owt to swap you I would as it's a raffle i would have loved to enter, really fancy trying one after the standard cooper.
paulplom Posted November 25, 2019 Posted November 25, 2019 I have a t-5 that I'd swap if you're interested.
DodgyBastard Posted November 25, 2019 Author Posted November 25, 2019 Another swap possibility has appeared... HarmonicCheeseburger, Dirk Diggler, privatewire and 5 others 8
DodgyBastard Posted November 25, 2019 Author Posted November 25, 2019 This is potentially being delivered tonight. I made an offer after seeing only one photo from someone who likely picked it up for scrap. Will it be totally fucked? Place your bets now... wuvvum, richardthestag, Mr_Bo11ox and 10 others 13

Zelandeth Posted November 26, 2019 Posted November 26, 2019 I've not seen one of those Subarus in years...yet you keep finding them. These had the same engine in as the 1.6/1.8 estate they did around the same time didn't they? So pre-dated the addition of balancer shafts or nonsense like that, and sound absolutely gorgeous as a result. Remember feeling really let down the first time I took an Impreza out...was expecting the same raw mechanical growl to be transmitted through the car as in the 1.8DL estate a friend had...yet it sounded just like any other car aside from a bit of a burbly exhaust. I'd find it really hard to turn down one of any of the applicable vehicles purely on aural terms if they turned up locally... LightBulbFun 1
DodgyBastard Posted November 30, 2019 Author Posted November 30, 2019 Today I drove to Wick to swap my 205 RJC_2620 by srblythe, on Flickr RJC_2621 by srblythe, on Flickr For a .... 205! RJC_2659 by srblythe, on Flickr Left at 7 this morning, got up to Wick after lunch then took a leisurely drive back home. It's a 205 D turbo with 12 months mot and on 66k miles. Jim Bell Posted November 30, 2019 Posted November 30, 2019 That looks mega! The FOAD swap shop comes up trump's again. Have it got a Bosch mate?

DodgyBastard Posted November 30, 2019 Author Posted November 30, 2019 In other news, I had a go at getting the latest Subaru started. The only preparation I did was to connect it to a good battery and turn the key to see what happened. The Moog, jonathan_dyane, LightBulbFun and 7 others 10
