DodgyBastard Posted March 21, 2020 Author Posted March 21, 2020 For the upcoming apocalypse I've got my priorities right, I spent £50 on a massive sheet of metal, got two gas cylinders refilled and bought a couple of reels of welding wire. RJC_4372 by srblythe, on Flickr Also changed the shocks on the gold Chevette, I'd noticed it was quite bouncy/floaty the last time I was out in it so went onto ebay and ordered a a pair of Chevette rear shocks and Nova rear shocks for the front (Nova ones fit and are much cheaper). It was probably the easiest shock change I've ever done, all bottom nuts and bolts are easy to access. Now with the new shocks fitted it drive so much better! Mr_Bo11ox Posted March 24, 2020 Posted March 24, 2020 Is that yard an actual business then FOAD? Or is it just some crackpot who likes putting cars in his field? Whats the deal? Either way, great to see those old crocks continuing their dissolution into the ground. Is there an old splitscreen VW truck there? Have a vague memory of seeing one in one of your rural tat hoard investigations.

It's not a business, the guy just bought and parked the cars there over the years. Instead of selling or scrapping them he just parked them and bought another. DodgyBastard Posted March 25, 2020 Author Posted March 25, 2020 DSC_0022 by srblythe, on Flickr I was unhappy with the look of some of the lower part of the sill next to the patch I made so ended up chopping out another section and making another patch, welding it in and buffing the welds smooth. I'm a little bit more confident in my abilities to make repair panels after watching my friend welding up the other side for the last few weeks. Usually I just try to get things done quickly but I have all the time in the world at the moment to get thing right. Dick Cheeseburger, skoda_fan, Shite Ron and 6 others 9
skoda_fan Posted March 25, 2020 Posted March 25, 2020 Re that collection my sensible head always wonders why oh why do old eccentrics like that do that sort of thing?? But then I realize that he's probably no older than me and if I had any land I'd inevitably end up doing the same. I can see how it happens. I often wish I could have kept every car I've ever owned. Truth is, if I had, many of them would be in that state by now. As it is, the seven I do own are crammed onto the front garden/driveway. From the scenery in the background in a couple of pics, that's a fabulous location. The Moog and Cord Fourteener 2
