Acquaintance involved in a hit and run... By off-duty police officer - What should he do?

There seems to be quite a few missing links from Mattlikescars. The distinct lack of updates seems strange as well. In the meantime, I can only assume the following...

Where on ASK mid does it give which insurer a car is with? I have only seen it say ye or nae.

It doesn't. I was confused by that too. Police can be arses. A friend was knocked off his motorbike by a pleb in a van who didn't stop. The Police still don't seem interested in pressing charges and sent the van driver on an awareness course.

I'm just going to take issue with your use of the word PLEB

Also not all of us masons are as dodgy as folk on here imply.

According to UD: "a member of a despised social class.... Also low-born, undistinguished, vulgar"

I'd say that's rather a kind way to describe someone who drives off after hitting a biker.

My mate got killed and the police covered that up.

With a white tent.

Sometimes twatting a cyclist is the only reasonable option

Seemed fair enough response.........it would have taken a lot of words to make the same point

AskMID used to say which insurer it was, when we had pikeys next door but one I used to check all the cars they randomly turned up in and I remember one being NFU Mutual.

I'm pretty sure Dolly's mate was on a motorbike, and hit by an actual car, but never mind. LOL AT TW4T CICLST

Back on topic, it's a shame the OP's friend got gang-raped by half a dozen chief inspectors in the back of an unmarked Mk3 Zephyr, but such are the perils of prostitution.

Right......this thread isn't right, usual half truth and some self fabrication. As a Traffic Cop who deals with this stuff on a daily basis can assure you that IF THIS WAS REPORTED, it would be investigated without fear of favour or any form of cover up. We aren't in the bloody 60s anymore.

Masons....WTF?? Bollox.

I would imagine the postee's imaganitive friend had a collision with an off duty officer, they stopped and exchanged details, otherwise he wouldn't know he was a police officer. Then tries and exaggerate things to gain compo!

Over to you postee....sounds a load of shit.

How can you T-Bone the front of a car and spin it? T-Boning is a visual description, suggesting that the front of one car drives into the centre of the doors of another, hence the image from above being described as T-Bone. Pictures would be great.

I'd go along with your summary at the end.

However if anyone truly believes there is not on occasion a closing of ranks is being naive to the point of stupid......

Six of one, half a dozen of the other with the Audi driver/cyclist.

I'd have been sorely tempted to bounce my bike off the side of his car though.

Quite. I don't see that as a one-sided incident at all. They were both twattish. Yes, the Audi driver started it, but don't we learn pretty early in life that this isn't justification for what follows?

Posted

But did the audi driver start that? Is he maybe not just guilty of a small error of judgement, I have also stopped in a cycle box by failing to anticipate the lights, the cyclist told him of his error and should have left it at that.

I think if you looked at that he comes across as being twattish/doing it on purpose, IMHO it's slightly aggressive the way he pulled up. The cyclist was a bit of a mouthpiece, so ss said six of one/half a dozen of the other.

Posted

I tried awarding points for each act as it developed as I am a naturally fair person

.........but then decided the cyclist asked for it by coming down the inside then taking the middle of the box so when the lights change the car driver has cyclists three abreast which would have pissed me off even when I'm in tolerant mode.

Verdict. Car drivers should punch cyclists in preference to running them over.

Erm... Now I am showing my ignorance/stupidity...

..but...

...what is that box for then?

Isn't the point of them to put the cyclists in front of the cars?

Posted

Yup mr cav your right, I did not see the audi pull forward after the cyclist pulled infront of him.

I think I should stop watching the tube of u on the phone.

They seem to be there to encourage cyclists to get in front of cars, the drivers of which can then, according to the board, get out and twat them. Or something. I think I'm just as confused as you, although I wouldn't like to be in front of some idiot in an Aldi anyway. Cars hard, cyclists soft.
