Time to catch up

 

The Cadillac played up again not wanting to start, I have had our local friendly Auto Sparks round and he says it is nothing to do with his electricity! That’s it he passed the buck and blamed a bush in the gear selector system not moving the gearbox arm far enough to release the inhibitor switch. A new bush is now needed and Mrs6C has seen a youtube video of how to make one!

 

The Gamma lost the use of the n/s front indicator over the weekend and I checked the bulb to no effect. The Auto Sparks looked at it for me to find the earth tab in the bulb holder is broken off, he has bodged a wire in to earth it while I look for a replacement.

 

My Saab has just started to slip its clutch under high boast. 

 

My CX has not moved on but at least the auto sparks says the gauge I have is suitable for checking the fuel line pressure and from a Citroen Car club member I have some other injectors to try.

I think you need a full time sparks and service mechanic. It could work out cheaper in the long run! Elton john (who lives not too far from me ) apparently has a staff of four looking after his fleet.

Today Slowsilver came round to help me improve the looks of our Metro, no he didn’t add Yugo wings but prepared and primed the temporary black painted wings on the car.

My CX is stored 6 miles away and still a non runner so it won't be about. Why not bring yours there is safe off road parking?

No but it has a button that switches off all instruments and panel lights except speedo!

On Monday I found the clutch had started to slip on the Saab, not badly, but high boast in high gear produced the rev counter to flip up before it settled down again. The bad news was I had somebody interested in buying it, I declared the fault and he was still interested so came to see it today. With an adjustment of the price he had just taken it and came equipped with a trailer, not that it needed it to drive to Croydon.

If you hold it for a few secs it also turns off the interior sensors for the alarm. At least I think that's what mine does.

well, just back home after hours of fun, bodging and hitting lots of things with various sized hammers. We cut grass, got an oltcit moving, fixed* the gate, washed a range-rover, started the jcb and exploded a Peugeot scooter. All while the lord of the manor supervised.

 

Very nice to meet old and new friends. Have fun tomorrow those who are going. And don’t break the gate - lots of brute force and ignorance went into it!

Oh and I seem to have pulled a muscle in my shoulder driving the mower- the understeer is lethal. However I am now experimenting to see if alcohol numbs the pain.

More interesting stuff today

A game of stack the the water containers, the handicap being a novice driver in a worn out machine with slop everywhere and no brakes!

 

Hayter Condor mower was successfully stripped to get at the failed cylinder bearing after working out some bold were not welded just stuck.

 

The Herald Coupe was half washed, with more games of collect 25 LTR water on a moped!

 

A first attempt to get the Herald Coupe running was not successfully as it won't even spin over on the starter with the plugs out. We did not have a spanner to fit the front pulley so pushed it in gear, worryingly a we only get a small amount of rotation on the front pulley then lock up.

 

One member with fours legs and a tail left her ball behind!
