The Reverend Bluejeans Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 I've still got a pair of new 35/40 INAT carbs from when I had my 3.0S. Think I gave 20 quid for them, still in Solex boxes. Six-cylinder 1
Six-cylinder Posted February 24, 2017 Author Posted February 24, 2017 Just came across this - surely the answer is a low value resistor in series with the sender? Edit - this bloke did it on his Caterham - https://csr175.wordpress.com/2013/12/21/recalibrating-the-water-temperature-gauge/ I will start by changing the sender unit on the Sovereign S1. I have bought sender unit but can't find it even though I have a heap of parts on my desk waiting to be fitted.
richardmorris Posted February 24, 2017 Posted February 24, 2017 Bmws don't appeal to me I'm afraid, so I'm oot!
Supernaut Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 I could give that 323i a lovely home up in Scotland...
Guest Breadvan72 Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 Temptation time again. Replace that old TC you used to have. I like the PI as long as it has PAS but no not at the moment. I nearly gave in this evening with the 306 floppytop but someone is now having it I think. I did buy this mower this evening though! Six-cylinder Posted February 27, 2017 Author Posted February 27, 2017 I am thinking this mower needs an Autoshite paint job! Can somebody design a paint job that can be applied with a brush please? Can somebody paint the artwork for me please. strangeangel 1

BavarianRetro Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 I'm not an E36 fan, but if I had a clean tidy, sport leather equipped, six cylinder, manual coupe that owed me nothing and somewhere to park it, I'd not be considering selling it. dome and Six-cylinder 2

I quite like that option but there is a cost to storing cars and also even cars in storage still deteriorate even without use.
chodweaver Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 Top mower buyage, that. A Westwood garden tractor was what I thought my parents should have been buying all those years ago when they bought a ridiculous, but loadsafun nevertheless ride-on mower. Happy days

Six-cylinder Posted February 28, 2017 Author Posted February 28, 2017 Have pity on me, if it not Breadvan it is my brother suggesting cars! My brother has offered me his Stag project, sat for 10 years now but was a good running car prior to that. Not rotted out but not rust free either. danthecapriman, alf892, richardmorris and 5 others 8
hairnet Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 you have a lovely gs and you consider this??? wow
richardmorris Posted February 28, 2017 Posted February 28, 2017 It doesn't look too bad, but would the plan be a full bare metal restoration or a get it on the road job? Values seem strong for them. Is it the proper engine?

Values seem strong for them. Is it the proper engine? Yes Stag engine, but it has been standing for 10 years so I am going over next week to take the plugs out and see if it will turn on the starter. No plan yet!
Six-cylinder Posted March 2, 2017 Author Posted March 2, 2017 I collected my new mower today, not a great start as I can’t get it to run by electric or cord. Shame I was very pleased what good condition it looked, but was sold to me by a dealer as spares/repair so I can’t complain, just something else to fix! I was told it needed a new cutting blade but it looks fine to me maybe dressed with a grinder, what do you think? The Alfa 156 got the towing job today, it won because the trailer already had its number plate on it!
Asimo Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 That blade looks fine. Grind from the top side so the bottom of the blade is flat. Blade has had it when the up-turned part that does the blowing is worn away or beginning to split. Six-cylinder and richardmorris 2
Six-cylinder Posted March 3, 2017 Author Posted March 3, 2017 I got my BMW 328i sport coupe back today after it had been away for welding and MOT, it looks like a scruffy old nail, but what fun to drive. spike60, Springer and worldofceri 3
The Reverend Bluejeans Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 The carbs I have are not INAT's but some other old Solex shite - they look like E21 320 twin chokes. Ebay beckons. Six-cylinder 1

Six-cylinder Posted March 3, 2017 Author Posted March 3, 2017 It's a long time since I drove one, but it was sensitive to plug gaps I recall. I will have another go with a jump pack before I condemn it as it had a low battery when I first tried it and by the time I remembered it had a pull start I had tipped it on its side to check the blade.

We ( the vicar and I ) used to keep it on a trickle charge now I'm thinking about it more. Always was a slow turner over though and neither of us could start it with the cord.
