...for the time being the 'electric' sunroof is operated via a cordless drill...

Now that's what I call Autoshite. I look forward to a review of the trip.

100% ORSUM.  My old 740 was incredibly comfortable on long journeys, that should be a pleasant trip for you.

Is there an especially valued car in France these days that you could do a sort of foreign exchange on your next trip?

Been bombing about in this today. Its flippin ace. One problem I have is, the CD changer in the boot is MEGA sensitive to going over bumps in the road. An 8mm pebble on the road can send it into spasms sometimes. Other times its alright. Is there anything I can do about that? Its a sony 10-disc job and is securely fitted with pukka brackets off the parcel shelf, its not wobbly or owt.

There's a mechanical switch on my Clarion 6 disc unit that chooses which way its mounted, vertical or horizontal. Might be an idea to check it's set right?

Might not apply to the Sony unit but it's worth checking

Volvo is looking well, how are you finding the truck engine and has the smell of styrene dissipated yet?

I love the truck engine!!!! The smell is ok, you cant really smell styrene, its still got that 'welding' smell in the interior for the moment!!! And the layer of grinding wheel dust that all my cars end up with after a heavy session in the garage.

Had the wheels balanced today. Now its as smooth as a mutha at 80 mph. The auto box is not quite as smooth as I think it should be when you engage 'D' though, or when top gear engages itself, so I think I will do a fluid flush when I get back from hols. Quite an expensive biz though as you need about 11 litres of ATF to completely renew the fluid!!!

Shame you can't just rinse it off with a quick cup of tea, like the layer that ends up on your teeth. Or is that just me?

Those cd changers have fluid mountings a bit like those stress balls - or if you are as old as me - a S-t-r-e-t-c-h Armstrong.

It is not unknown for them to pop out of their locating hole and leave the deck rattling about.

Might be worth popping the cover off.

Those wheels look class on the car. Was deffo worth the repaint.  Wonder what the MPGZ will be like on a long steady run to the inContinent.

Bo11ox's new favourite things are damped grab handles and blue backlit instruments.

The 760 looks great, I really miss owning a lorry-engined Volvo.

Out of interest, does it have a full instrument pack with boost gauge, voltmeter and whatnot?

Posted

That looks amazing. I'm kinda glad you bought it rather than me, you've given it so much TLC!

Do you still need the A??

Posted

Yo!!!!! That golf is nowt to do with me. Doesn't Brenda from '6 feet under' drive a red golf like that??? HOT.

The 760 doesn't have a boost gauge or voltmeter. Every time I fill it with diesel I expect the fuel gauge to call it a day but it's still hanging on so far.

Yo LT, I haven't got a use for the A at the moment, have you still got it??? I cant remember the last time I used it.

Changed the oil on this today after noticing the oil light was taking ages to go out of a morning. 6 litres of black tea replaced with 10/40 semi synthetic and new filter, lovely job. Sounds super sweet now. Off to France next weekend with the car trailer!!!!! SHITE LIVIN'

Geyza, Volvo is looking sweet.

It reminds me of the Volvo 760 from the wierd 1991 movie 'Delusion'

Anyone remember this old tank? Sailed through the MOT today without even any advisories. I have done 18,000 miles in it in 10 months! Chew on that banger rally bell ends.

Anyway I need to sell it now as I have too many cars again, looking for four figures, FOAR SHAYLE ad coming up when I have cleaned it.
