Don't mind it being a bit scruffy/short mot etc, as long as it's reliable and will get me to work and back with no dramas.

It's gotta be cheap though.

With the impending arrival of the turbo brick isn't Davidfowler of the SVM looking to shift his 960 auto? Similar to v70/850, only less fwd and bigger engine.

V40 and interesting?

Mitsubishi Carisma in drag, not very interesting, but adequate motors. There's a gdi V40 I occasionally borrow from the garage, dull but competant, with an auto box, even duller I would imagine. Nowhere near the size or space of an 850.

I'm trying to prise a V70 out of a chap's hands as we speak.

That would be my first choice, but it's only a 2.5 10 valve auto, so dog slow I would imagine.

Well, the owner of the V40 sent me a raft of pics through.

It's a 2.0 litre auto, and in my price range.

It's got everything the V70 has, but in a smaller package.

I'm quite impressed with it actually.

 

That 940 looks quite nice, but I do like my estates.

Have you sold the Accord then? If so, good work!

 

Having had experience of 740s and V40s, if an 850/V70 feels like the former personally I would hold out for one instead of going for the latter.
