Volvo 340 DL 1.4

Bad news... just did a vic check and it's registered as scrapped.

But its not the end of the world, perhaps I can find a bare 1.4 shell thats in better nick.

So the old gadge sold it to you for a bit above bridge money, then threw the new keeper bit of the V5 in the bin and filled in the scrap part? What would he gain from this..?

Posted

No v5 with it, I think it had been scrapped a while ago.

I'm not fussed though and wasn't really concerned about it.

The mechanicals are spot on and it might be easier and cheaper to just swap them into a better shell.

After reading posts concerning rolls royces' and mobil 1 my faith in this site is now being restored after seeing this.

Well done for saving another unloved ovlov.

You can't polish a turd, but you can roll it in glitter.

Sell the oily bits to Rapunzel of this parish

The giffer seller obviously knows his stuff re; BANK ROBBERY GET AWAY AWAYZ cars of choice of the criminal fraternity here in Ireland; the 340 Volvo being coveted by the canny robberz - they deliberately seek out the mossy, rusty fizzly ones to make the getaway car look like a strange 'anamoly' car on CCTV - virtually unidentifiable on the cleareset on CCTV footage, n the robberz make their swift getaway virtually undetected... the plates are often swopped about from 340 to 340 to further fool the cops...

...footage here of a sophisticated 340 'catalyster' model here, being put through its paces, with an ever watching helicopter overhead; the crafty criminals often 'soup up' the 340 1.4, despite its phenomenal power, with ingredients that can be found in an 'everyday' kitchen, which are then added to the car to give it both extra longevity during a 'high speed chase' and extra power n spice...

Break it and buy mine then I can buy that Saab 99... You can have it for £300 if you like?

That is top work.

Off topic but where did you get the recovery truck from? I was looking go hire one in Fife sometime soon.

A guy we know from Bonnybridge, he normally does us a good deal and we use him to move everything that doesn't run. He'll be doing the FSO pickup soon too...

Cheers for that. I was looking to hire one to drive myself-possible Yorkshire shite swapping mission, need to drag the 944 there and its non running replacement back.

It still pulls on the DVLA site, sure it has a scrap marker against it?

I just checked but see you have done the same. I thought they were removed from Dooooovla when they were shown as scrapped, or is that just recent cars?

Me too. If not it certainly appears mine is still on the system - SURVIVAL OF THE SHITTEST.

The old guys yard used to be a scrapyard, I thought something was dodgy when I noticed it wasn't sorn so did a check and it's definitely scrap.

If FOAD is up for selling me his I might break this one to fund it, after all it is only fit for being broken or cubed now!

Top marks for saving that derskine.

My old man had an 83 340 DL 3door that I used to tow a car transporter trailer with on several occasions. I had a few V6 capris, a Mk2 Escrote and even a Mk1 Granada on that trailer! The volvo was fine once I got going.

OT but what's the story with the White Beemer then? Looks like it's taken root there.

The BMW belongs to the guy we rent our unit off, I'm not exactly sure on the details but he's had it a long time and plans to focus on it soon.

Well, unfortunately this car has to be stripped, I wanted to save it but it's now legally not possible.
I could reshell it but finding a decent 1.4 shell will be hard I think.
I'm hoping to make enough cash off the parts to buy FOAD's 340 which will perhaps lead me to having a working 340 much quicker.

Yesterday was good fun though, literally dragging a car out of a bush and getting it driving round.

The funny thing is he didn't want me to know the registration plate but he didn't realise it's etched on all the windows.

Are these that rare now that utter wrecks are desirable?

I know shite dies hard in Scotland, wouldn't it be cheaper to find one from 'a dry state' somewhere in that England?
