Yes well i went and did it, after buying the Daihatsu Move earlier in the year, and finding out the engine was wank, I stuffed in another engine out a scrap car found locally and set off for the Norff

Two days of hard graft 50mph i arrived at the top.

On route i got Scottish sunshine

All in all 1850 miles of 50mph, 7 days alone in the car, listening to what i wanted on the radio, and all done for the best reason in the world... Because i wanted to do it, and NOT FOR CHARITY

The cars used 3/4 pint of oil and no breakdowns, the car now makes some squeaks now which i will investigate later today, but back to work on Monday, but for £300 the cars did well, unlike me, who now has sore knees from 7 days of constant driving 8 hours a day.

Well done sir! It should be churlish to point out that the Triumph folk recently did JOG and Land's End in one weekend, so I won't. ;)

Great to see another tiny Daihatsu enjoying a Scottish adventure though. Not sure I could have coped taking the Sirion to Cornwall in the same week though. That is mightily impressive! Nicely done.

in a weekend i could of done the whole trip, but i wasn't about how long it took (or how short) it was more about having time to enjoy the views and just drive.....

Being a solo drive as well one had to make sure i didn't drive to far without breaks, the longest and worst day was the Cumbria M74, all the way to Devon M5 leg, 350 miles of endless motorway  :-( , the rest was at leafs scenic.

Good to see a small car being used by someone who drives it for pleasure.

I was going to add a rant about the average small car driver but I would be preaching to the converted.

Well done!

Me and Mrs_P have toyed with the idea of having a honeymoon in the MGF, taking it end to end. Get down to LE as quick as possible, then take a scenic route and stop over wherever all the way up to JOG, then home.

My original plan was to do it via the scenic route, but one has to consider the distances involved when doing the trip in 7 days, one has too maintain nearly 250 miles a day, which if you want to rock around the country roads looking at things and stopping off here and there for cream tea will make it near impossible. Very early in my planning I realised that a touring holiday of Scotland and doing the end to end was nearly impossible.

I have plans for another trip in Rambo2 (the replacement MOVE coming my way sometime soon) which is going to be a summer tour of the western islands and highlands.

We did JOG and Lands End in the 2CV taking all of the scenic routes (and a very indirect route that included Suffolk and Kent). It took about 13 days! That was averaging 200-250 miles a day. This country is quite big if you try and see a lot of it in one go. I'm mighty envious of your little marathon though. I've never tried to do the straight run.
