Austin Allegro 1.3 manual
Mint interior
Good bodywork
Low mileage

The car could do with some tlc to bring it up to standard, the passenger wing has recently been replaced and needs painted to match the rest of the car. The inner wing isn't great and has a bit of rust which needs sorted. The car starts and drives quite well, it handles nicely and stops well.
I've recently fitted a clutch slave cylinder, it selects gears well and pulls nicely.

I'm after a cash sale of £550 shiters discount  but may consider a swap for something a bit newer say 80's-90's

5 months tax
11 months mot

I going to France on 24th Aug, setting off from Glasgow. If you were prepared to insure it and cover the fuel and ferry I could get it to Dunkirk. .

At a touch over £500 for an Agro I think that we can say that the current classic value bubble is well out of control.

It's almost worth buying it just to stick it into the works car park and watch the reaction, but I've just bought 4 new tyres for the Pride so I'm out, GLWTS and all that.

I think that's VALU actually - but the idea of driving it from Dunfermline to London ain't all that appealing, frankly - so I'm out.

Cheers but I'm not sure if I'm going to France yet, if I do I won't be there until September, plus I may take my 827 Coupe. Thanks for the offer though.

Swop an Airedale Terrier?

I quite fancy this but somerset is a bloody long way in an allegro. I even have a half decent mx5 that could do with a new home. A bit rusty but drives really well with the 1.8 engine and adjustable suspension (bit too hard for my liking)

I'd happily swap for the mx5 but I don't fancy a long motorway drive in the Allegro either...

I'm currently out of the Cavcraft office but you can bet your last quid when I get back I'll be desperately offering you all sorts of shit in part exchange.

Massive want too. Do you reckon Ryanair will let it on as hand luggage?

Is any kind of delivery service available?

Like I say I'm driving from Glasgow to Dover on the 23rd. If thee and FOAD can organise it I could drop it off somewhere along the m6/m25 part of the route if you cover insurance and petrol:)

Shitely works!

Realised that I really don't need more chod at the moment. Decided to focus resources in future on getting the 244 mint and the cx repaired. ...mind you...If anyone has a Tagora. .....😉

You'll be glad to hear it's provisionally sold! Just need to get it to Carlisle early on Saturday morning and I'll surely be bringing home something just as awful if not worse going by the description...

I know this sounds desperate* but I relish the challenge of driving an Allegro, I don't really care jow far it is, I just want to drive one, it's gotta be better than a boring 827. If FOAD agrees I could jump in Allegro, drive it to yours and drive the MX5 to FOAD or vice-versa.

I'm back in England soon anyway.

BAH! Outta luck then.

Back to the boring and rotten looking 827 Coupe it is then..... :(

Er, 827 Coupes are not "boring", young man. 100 lines for you! :)

Congrats on the sale FOAD

It can't sing, it can't play, it looks...awful.

It'll go a long way!

Sweet! Offer to drive it anywhere after the 11th is still on! :D

For those who are wondering if they can survive a long trip in an Allegro, I have to say from my previous experience they are comfortable machines, just a bit noisy because of the low-ish gearing

Posted

I took it for a spin earlier, Maybe I've made it out to be worse than it actually is. It cruised along nicely with 3 of us in the car and didn't break down once.

Has nobody got anything they'd swap for it? I'd possibly even meet as far as Carlisle if any southerners wanted it.
