Frogchod Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Hello all, been lurking for a while.....Anyway, introduction, I'm yet another expat living in France, near Vire in Normandy.Been a serial Citroen addict forever, had most of them over the years, but have always been to poor for a DS, Traction or SM. Did have an H recently though.Current fleet is an 82 Visa, a 74 Dyane and the works shitemobile is a 99 Jumpy with 340000 on the clock. When I had a proper job I was inflicted with Vuaxhalls so can confirm all Vuaxhalls are shite. Also have an inexplicable desire for an Avantime.......I might have posted pic of Ethel the Visa.. Jim Bergerac, Semi-C, laser wheels and 4 others 7
KruJoe Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Yes, we see Ethel with her BX number plate. She's lovely. There's a "Meg the Visa" around here somewhere, look out for the thread. Welcome ps, Whatever a 'Jumpy' is, I wonder why they didn't sell it here with that name...
Asimo Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Welcome, Ethel looks good, the best colour for Visa's of a certain age imho. What model please? This was mine a long time ago, never liked the little side repeater indicators, nice to see your's does without. Nothing inexplicable about wanting an Avantime. Buy your's here where they are much cheaper than France.
Frogchod Posted July 27, 2014 Author Posted July 27, 2014 Thanks for the welcome. In answer to the Qs.A Jumpy is a Dispatch, daft name but so is Jumper..Visa is a "Visa 2 super E" , povo spec, not even a radio. But it does have an "econometer"As for Stuff being cheaper in the uk, yes it is, but by the time I've shipped it to France, got LHD headlamps etc and sorted the paperwork there's not much in it. And it'll be RHD.....A cheap LHD Avantime in Portsmouth though and I'd be there tomorrow.Off topic a bit, but chod on Leboncoin is always overpriced, sellers here always expect to haggle, I've used Leboncoin many times and always have negotiated at least 20% of asking price.Except the H van which was advertised "prix ferme" , but it was cheap...
Jimblob Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 I love Visas. I owned a super e (I think it was - 652cc) and then also a 1600cc Visa GTi. Both awesome cars!
forddeliveryboy Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Welcome, fc. Hope you sold the H-van at English prices - they've gone daft here in the last few years.
Frogchod Posted August 3, 2014 Author Posted August 3, 2014 Looking at Hvan prices in the uk, I think I let it go to cheap. It went to the UK for 5.5K.Probably to be sold on for 10K.I console myself by reminding myself I only paid 1.5KAnyway, here's a pic of said H..... Shep Shepherd, Skizzer, Cavcraft and 1 other 4
DSdriver Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Bonjour and bienvenu a l'Autoshite famile.Right, that's the limit of my french conversation.I have just looked up Vire in Google maps and it looks like a handy place to pop in for a cup of tea next time we get to Santander and find the ferry is canceled due to impending storm in the bay of Biscay and have to drive up to Caan in the torrential rainfall associated with the storm hoping that the forty year old wipe motor in the DS will hang on in there. It did but Mrs DSdriver had to stuff bits of tissue in the gaps around the frameless windows to keep herself dry. Frogchod 1
Frogchod Posted August 3, 2014 Author Posted August 3, 2014 Anyone with a DS is welcome to call in.Think I've got some tea somewhere, plenty of coffee and beerYou may not leave in a DS though...... DSdriver 1
Skizzer Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Welcome. Ethel the Visa looks grand. My cousin had an identical one from new on an X-plate, same colour and everything. Loved it. Also have an inexplicable desire for an Avantime....... Thankfully, this is one place where you will never be asked to explain your desire for an Avantime. Shep Shepherd 1
Semi-C Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Top wheels sir, both my folks were Visa powered in days of yore. Bravo & hello
DSdriver Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 That's all right, I don't actually drink tea. Cup of tea = English euphamism equivalent to petit quelque-choseHow long have you been away?On that occasion we stopped for the night hereHotel de la Poste, Falaise by DSdriver, on Flickr The room was a bit spartan but the scoff was top-notch - highly recommended.
Six-cylinder Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Hi, I am also a serial Citroen follower and currently have a Visa, mind is 17RD and I drive it to France/Holland most years. I do also have a 1972 D super, I also bring the DS to France/Holland from time to time but I am not ready to exchange it for a cup of tea! My wife wants an H van but the prices have gone too high for us. I have few other Citroens but some need work. There is an excellent British independent Visa Forum:http://visaforum.freeforums.org/index.php?sid=e0969012ec5687fbe8ef223a6d9681b5 My Visa and DS.
Six-cylinder Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 ps, Whatever a 'Jumpy' is, I wonder why they didn't sell it here with that name... I think we called it 'Dispatch'
forddeliveryboy Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Good sale with the H - never mind what it went for in Angle-terre, you made a very handsome profit. Did it go to a Graham or Tony?
Frogchod Posted August 5, 2014 Author Posted August 5, 2014 @DSdriver. That D looks fab, Falaise is pleasant too , a fair few K's from here though. Been in France ten years.@Sixcylinder. I'd up my offer to a cup of tea and a Visa, but wifey doesn't like white cars.....@Forddeliveryboy. I'm pretty sure it was one of Tonys oppos, Tony deffo has a home near me.
