Ladeez an gennulshiters, tonight for your delectation I have a glorious bit'o'shite, a bit of shite that will be hard to repeat, a bit of shite that hopefully one of you shitophiles would love to be the proud keeper of.

It's an 'R' reg Fiat Punto 1.2 Disaster, sorry, Selecta in a particularly malodourous shade of unwashed green. Owned by a pensioner with parking problems for the last six or seven years this beautiful example of Italian engineering has been reversed into a wall every day as part of a particularly amusing to watch parking ritual. This has resulted in some uniquely impact scuptured areas of the vehicle which can only be appreciated by a true lover of autoshite. The interior has an interesting patina created by the woolly seat covers, smell of biscuits and dog chewed handbrake. There is a light layering of broken shortbread biscuits in all the right places. The windows have been specially treated with a genuine 'pensioner spec' cataract type layer of carefully smudged smeg over the years which may be removable with careful application of a pneumatic drill.

Mechanically it's an unusual example, fitted with a truly abused CVT 'mice on treadmills" automatic gearbox -reverse gear is broken but it goes forwards just fine once you manage to crunch it into D with the removable gear selector. It actually drives very well indeed. Once protective gaffa tape had been applied to the cracks in the bumpers it positively flew through the MOT about a month ago, I don't think it even had an advisory notice issued but I may be wrong, I can't remember. The engine is fine with no signs of headgasket issues, tappet noise, oil consumption or any other ill signs.

Electric windows and central locking work as they should and it's only covered 91,000 miles. Handbooks etc are with it, as is the ability to carve up traffic to your hearts content, engine screaming happily at 4500 rpm and people giving it a very wide berth due to the alternatively sculptured extremities.

I've not got a clue what its worth, but I'm sure it's got to fetch £200 or so as the engine is a little gem. There are two undamaged panels on it which may yield £20 or so on ebay and the wipers work (which is unusual in the extreme for a Punto).

Any of you lot want it? 12 months tax on it is negotiable....(i.e you buy the tax if you want it). It will more likely than not get you home, it just won't go backwards so be careful where you park it.

Call me on 07731 744088 and I'll giggle somewhat.

Isn't Bickle looking for a good 1.2 lump?

That's brilliant and horrific in equal measures  Suffice to say that if I needed wheels at the moment I'd be on my way round right now, as it is I'm sure you'll move it on without too much trouble.

It may have 11 months MOT, but it's still a pea green dented Punto with a bust gearbox, and two hundred pounds seems a bit strong. You would definitely make more money breaking it :D .

Yup, but it's a pea green dented Punto that will make it under its own steam to wherever someone wants it (unless it involves reversing). Other than the gearbox, mechanically it's fine. Yes, it's worth more if I break it, but why break it? Other than the box the thing drives really well. £200 won't get much when it comes to supermini stuff. You might get an ancient scabby Fiesta. This Punto is battered, but it's not rusty, and other than the box it's all cosmetic damage. I'd rather buy a bit'o'shite like this and spend a weekend sorting the box than spend a weekend welding up the sills on a shite old Fiesta / Nova / Micra.

Just noticed your Brookside siggy commenty bit. That's about a mile from here :-)

What's the significance of the Brookside pics?(and is the first one how it looked when the series first started, and the second one how it looks now or something?)

Excellent punto. I too have elderly neighbours with tank driver parking. Unfortunately it sometimes involves my car too..Like the Brookside siggys, I'd like to see the first one in full size as there appears to be some examples of Brook-shite parked up. Check out how that monster conifer has come along in 20(?) years!

Does that sticker really say: 'I love Pog's trust in Merseyside'?

I think it's the Dog's trust, but I'll have to check now...

Wow, lucky you, was there a few weeks back, always wanted to visit the place since I was a kid.

Well, it might sound a little wiered, I've always loved the style of houses on Brookside Close, I used to live in similar style (Slightly older, white framed) house, but was repossesed in the early 90's

I watched Brookside Close simply to see the houses, not for the story lines, and wished one day that I could buy a house like those ones, dont think thats ever gonna happen.

Indeed sir, the pics are from when it first started way back in 1981 (Before I was born!) and the other one is a recent pic. It is sadly overgrown and not looked after.

If I had the money I would definiately buy one of those houses.

Hey i remember a bit on Brookside where Mike 'Dicko' Dixon got his first car for his birthday, a maroon B310 sunny for his birthday, after a while he took it to the beach and the tide came in and swallowed it. UNLUCKY, HA HA HA

Didn't Barry also bury his XJS on the beach so he could claim the insurance for it? Day do do, don't day do. Calm down, calm down etc etc

Mike Dixon also had a Black Capri in the late 90's, and when he first arrived in the close he had some sort of old van, I think it was a Commer.

I have the first episode in full (Copied from You-tube) the Grants had a Blue Austin Princess, thier son, Barry had an early XJ6, the collins had an SD1 and another couple had an Yellow Citroen Dyane?, not forgetting the early Cortina that used to appear in titles for a large part of the 90's

Bing Crosby who lived in the bungalow had some sort of old tat aswell.

I have a some on site photo's (From FlickR not my own) of Brookside and hhow they used camera mounts on early shite stuff, I'll post them up later.

The cortina was Bings, but was bought by builder Frank Rodgers (or was that the other way round?)

Anyone got the last episode on dvd or vhs?

In reality, Bing owned a 91'H' Nova GSi in 'silk violet' until my mate 'Suicide Ste', an avid buyer of not-quite-the-right-model classic stuff bought it from the local Fiat stealership in about '96. Always seemed to be an incongruous choice for Bings wheels, that.

I once owned a VW polo that used to belong to Telly Transvestite Paul O'Grady (until he bumped the front end and wrote it off - 2 second hand wings, some isopon and a couple of rattle cans and it was right again). Was a bloody good car that too, only cost me £90.

My current saab's last keeper was Michael Fish. I have his address on the V5 should anyone feel the need to stalk him

I think the Cortina was Frank Rodgers first then it became Bings as Bing stayed in the Close well into the late 90's and I noticed the Cortina parked at the side of the bungalow in late 90's episodes.

Had a look on youtbe at some o the last episodes, one of the last characters had an L-reg Lexus LS400 at first then changed to an L-reg XJ6.

Also if anyone (As Father Ted) if anyone has any Tapes or DVD's of Brookie a copy would be greatly appreciated for some beer tokens.

Thanks Guys,

I'd tell him the ex-GPO Dodge spacevan you were living in @ 1987 had a 3000 year old oak tree plumet through the roof, and you were furious because you had brush painted it camo too
