Parking ticket appeals?

Recommended Posts

Been done for parking for the first time in twenty years!

On a double yellow, outside a shop, nipped in to collect a repaired sewing machine.\

Arse

Do I have grounds for appeal?

Observed from 10;15 to 10;15 - is that long enough?

Tax disc 'partially obscured' it isn't

& colour 'gold' It's not, it's silver!

It's not the end of the world & I shall doubtless cough up before tea time, but I thought I'd ask.

Without doubt grounds to appeal, wrong colour car, your tax disc will be visable in the photo if its not obscured and he/she observed the car for zero minutes!!!? Appeal Man! Good luck.

I would guess Council if its a double yellow out the front of a shop. Never ever pay those private property fines regardless, those really are cowboys often with no contact details except an address to send in your cheque. Grrrrr!

Sorry if I'm being dim here but WTF has your tax disc got to do with a traffic warden? (Or whatever grand title they give themselves these days). Plus 1015 to 1015? Is this a typo? If not, how can the observe you for zero time? Or is this OK now?

If you are bang to rights then so be it, we've all done it, occasionally we get nailed & will have to pay up, a bummer but s'pose that's life.

Agree with ES1 - if it's a private company then politely invite them to have intimate relations with their female parent. That's what I did last time and never heard any more about it. Cowboys.

No it was a proper council warden, a nice old gel, she told me that I was being ticketed because even loading/unloading is prohibited after 10:00

but examination of the signs revealed it's prohibited at any time.

I am probably banged to rights and have nothing to lose.

But lets try & get out of it on a technicality eh?

It's £70 with a 50% reduction if I pay within 14 days, if I appeal it's put on hold.

When they decide whether to accept my appeal they'll write to me and the 14 days will start again.

I have appealed on line and will update as soon as I hear more.

As long as you weren't parked on the M4 at 132mph I see no moral or ethical dilemma in trying to get away with it.

I generally find that the effort of appealing is more hassle than the fine but I suppose its through people like me that they make their money.

That might also be the reason that I am always brassic.

Im sad and watch all these documentaries about parking wars, I learnt on there that if EVERYONE appealed their tickets the whole system would melt down overnight, but people dont and infact a large majority (cant remember exact figure) do get upheld.

... infact a large majority (cant remember exact figure) do get upheld.

I've read that too.

What have I possibly got to lose by appealing?

The rule used to be that the car had to be observed for 3 minutes, well if she has only done this from 10.15 to 10.15 then shirley it has to be upheld?

You should have said that you were from autoshite, and your car was fecked.

Can you not say you are a North Korean diplomat and the fine is effectively an Unenforceable tax on the oppressed workers of the Juche Dynasty?

It might not work but it will confuse the hell out of the admin staff!

Im sure it was 5 mins observation before they could ticket you. 0 mins isnt long enough, you could be stopped in traffic or something.

Got off!

I iz free man.

The story, I got a 'hard luck we don't accept your appeal' letter.

This had a clear pic of my tax disc and a picture of my gold/silver car on double yellows.

It also said that I'd failed to provide any proof of loading...

So I rang up and said that I'd got a timed receipt for a sewing machine repair and she said,

'oh, that's a no loading area, we've sent out the wrong letter'

'See you in court then', said I, 'with the inaccurate photographs and the wrong paperwork'.

This morning a letter arrived cancelling the ticket because, 'the road markings are not particularly clear'

Hoorah, I had probably better get drunk to celebrate.

The one thing better than getting off a parking ticket, is getting off a parking ticket through their own incompetence. They had one job to do, etc etc
