London. Where the streets are paved with Pineapples

Not really London but North Weald Airfield is almost London and the show was London Volksfest so thats good enough for me.

So yep, this weekend for some reason or another I found myself almost in London at a VW show that we'd been told would be 'really big' (it wasn't) and  expecting to be really busy - though to be fair we had a reasonable day of earning money.- just not enough for the time / effort / distance / travelling in a Transit without aircon.

Because the airfield doubles as a dragstrip a fair percentage of the cars there weren't VWs which made for a bit of variety and there was some nice stuff as well as some utter shit too. Allow me to present to y'all the following collection of photographic images....

Pink SEAT Altea. Because nothing says women with six kids better than that does it.

Passat Estate was nice although too low and too many stickers. Roofrack pleasingly free of pineapples.

This thing really was an utter shitbox. Full of the usual stickers 'H8RS GONNA H8' etc, I'd have liked to make up a sticker saying 'WEIGHBRIDGES GONNA WEIGH' and slap it on it before feeding it into a mobile frag machine.

This was pretty nice but For Sale at £27,500 (TWENTY SEVEN THOUSAND AND FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS) which seems a huge amount of money. Is that really what they are worth these days?

Nice Golf van spoiled by comedy banded wheels

This was absolutely lovely, I'd really enjoy climbing on and putting this through its paces. Oh yeh, nice Golf too. (ATCNBE)

{fortune teller} I see a roofrack, paint stripper and tropical fruit in your future{/fortune teller}

Youngish lad had what looked like a i10 hire car and had taped over the plates. Presumably so he could take it up 'the strip' without fear of identification. Never moved all day though so who knows what that was all about.

£6k and you could drive around with a baseball cap advertising tractors, a piece of hay hanging out 'your mouth and pretending you were Uncle Jessie on your way to deal with Bo & Luke rather than on your way to some dreary job in a dreary town.

Mexico!

NNNNNG. Do want.

A nice Mk1 Golf with nice wheels and maybe a slight drop looks good in my eyes. Just me?

Look at the tyres on that Mexico, you'd be bricking it driving home if it got slightly misty never mind damp.

Monochrome bug and wonky Dodge pick up for me.  Also, I still really like pink cars, even though they're owned by a certain sort of person of the female persuasion I'd rather not make accidental eye contact with in the UK.

That Paxo is utter mingebag, and I bet its a basix 1.1 as well judging by the pea shooter tail pipe. Owned by a local Garyboy from Harlow probably.

Lovely RS200 and that orange 260Z has an M Power lump, does it not?

Dunno tbh, thats as much as I saw of it.

I love RS200s, always have since they came out. If I ever have a fuck-ton of money then I shall be having myself one.

I love the Dodge Ram pick-ups, the wonky bumper on the 1991 one just gives it the right hillbilly attitude, like it's just been used to shove a State Trooper's Crown Victoria out the way - grits and Coors beer wait for no man.

Corsair and Cortina also lovely, the 1600E is probably the one I'd take home.

Edit - Just realised it's probably not a 1600E, still nice.

Those first three Fords were just as they should be, for me.  I'd have very happily taken home either of the Dodge pickups too.

Close, it's what people pay. Teensy difference.

Yo Barrett, Didn't realise you were there either - someone on flickr told me I'd taken a picture of a car that was something to do with you or something afterwards so assumed you'd been.
