I have an Armenian friend in LA who I could ask - but suspect she might be fast asleep at this hour.

 

She's a teacher but once asked me what do we do for in Idependence Day in the UK...I asked what do you think Independence Day is about.

 

She replied, "It's when we got Independence from the French!"

 

I could ask her but I'm not too hopeful of the outcome.....

If you've got fangled apple or android smart phone look for an application called word lens. It's freaky alien, future, dr emmett brown, mr fusion technology that that translates language as you look at it through your phone.

If you had a bit of paper on your desk in russian and you looked at it through wordlens you'll see what was written on the paper in english.

They've just updated it it so it translates russian.
