Interesting to see the Post Box with the Post Office arrow sign on top. I always thought that was charming somehow, you still see many with the fitting for the sign.

Very interesting London photo. So much happening.

Notwithstanding the decrepitute of the vehicles it's actually 1933 or just after - because Unilever House top left is completed.

Shows how much horse-drawn traffic there was for utilitarian tasks - a lot of that traffic crossing at that point will be on the way to or from Smithfield, Spitalfields or Billingsgate Markets.

Power via the rails rather than overhead, hence the power poles in the stowed position.

(The power was not in the rails at the road surface but other safer located rails)

Ruxley corner Sidcup.

Can anyone identify this vehicle? The image is of the Baker and his wife outside their shop (now a house) in my village.

That yard at Ruxley Corner had a little convertible welded to the top of a pole and painted bright orange. I did stop there once when they had a DS in but they wanted me to take the whole thing and I had nowhere to store it.

Photo of a flyer - says around 1970, we think Granada Estate in there would be 1972 onwards? R4 and (maybe) a R8 or Simca 1000?

It's difficult to find a good photograph from the same sort of angle but the unusual arrangement of rear spring shackle, 10-spoke wheels with five wheelnuts, and the relief on the side of the bonnet all looks like just-pre WW1 Mors to me

The front end and wheels of a pre war Mors (never heard of them tbh) certainly fits. Thank you.

Scheveningen, mid 1920s. Some sort of race/event, it seems.

Fascinating, not least because the Netherlands famously had hardly any motor sport events before WW2. I found this thread – https://forums.autosport.com/topic/34974-help-with-early-racing-in-the-netherlands/ – which tells us it's a sprint that was held on 8th June, 1923. I'm not very good at IDing American cars of this period, but that's the Essex right in the middle, with a very early Lambda in front. Parked behind that could be an Opel, maybe (car 19)? Car 21 is the 30-98 Vauxhall, with an Amilcar just behind. I' can't work out what Car 2 and the two others behind it are, or the other big American.

Where are you finding these great images?

Yes, organised motorsports wasn't common until Zandvoort opened in the 1940s. However, some events such as time trials, sprints and concours d'elegances were held before that, and the boulevard of Scheveningen was a popular spot for them - a long, straight, relatively smooth road and wealthy spectators. This was filmed in 1924: https://peertube.beeldengeluid.nl/w/d1BGDxwHscGfTWUERVYwuk

Most of these are from national archives. ABP, the photo archives from major cities, the archive of the "Beeld & Geluid" media museum. Searching through the archives can be a bit tedious, the keywords used are often inconsequent and sometimes plain wrong...

Berlin, 1921.

A Beringer...

beringer.jpg.3f38ec839fa4deb2f10963d6fc719c4b.jpg

... the Rumpler.

rump.jpg.d18e5dc326451313a8d783e1c697445d.jpg

... Mercedes with "the most expensive paintwork of the show".

mercedesduur.jpg.da7aa6e956a46f909455155c3274823b.jpg

.. and something of which I'm not sure what it is. Seems to say "BOB" on the radiator.

bobding.jpg.992626ea792959d5b331cc5be1c2fd3a.jpg

Edit: BOB seems to have been a short lived (1920-1925) German manufacturer. No info though about this specific coupe -like model...
